Disappointed in loaner car
Disappointed in loaner car
I posted the Braking Problem last week. Well, the dealer STILL has my Xfire. They are still "looking" for the Brake Module thing.
They did provide a loaner. A 2004 PT Cruiser, Touring Edition. One question ... I was hoping that I would (at least) get a "decent" loaner; like maybe a 300 (either last year's OR this year's).
I know they have a lot on their lot. I am pretty sure that the salespersons get one as a "demo".
I just figuure, after spending about 35,000.00 on a car I would get something a little higher end.
Am I being unreasonable??? Please advise. Thanks.

Be glad you didn't get the Hyundai I got when I had mine in for repairs. I'd've killed for a PT Cruiser.
I'll hush now, in the interest of not offending anyone. Some people go *so* upset last time when I called the Hyundai a steaming pile of crap, so I won't do it again.
It was, though. Major crap.

I got whatever Enterprise Rent-a-Car had.
The first time I got a Chrysler minivan, which they traded me for a V8 Dakota Quad Cab. I had that for 8 days.
Today I take my car back in, because the tranny is still popping out of first gear and the Enterprise guys tells me to pick what I want.
Now I have a Dakota extended cab V8.
My feeling is that since I'm not paying, I'll take whatever I get for free. I can always pay to upgrade my rental, but I see no reason to do that. If all I got was a Geo, I'd be happy that I didn't have to pay like most other people do when their car is in for repairs.

the trick to get a better loaner car, is by telling your salesperson to arrange for it. tell them that you are possibly interested in the 300M maybe for yourself or someone else. That has always worked for me. Even though my two other cars, always provided you with a loaner, they weren't always the best usually cheaper.
try it.
try it.
I believe according the actual contract/deal offered on the Pacifica, 300 and Crossfire vehicles, the maximum amount the company will pay for a loaner is $35.
I also received a PT when I took my car in a week ago. It was a Turbo GT version with only 1500 miles on it and a nice sunroof. While I don't personally care for PTs, they are EXTREMELY popular vehicles ... Chrysler sells a ton of them. So some people might actually enjoy getting one to drive around for a few days. I was surprised at how roomy they were. Thought to myself that the next time I need service, I'll schedule it at a time I need a cargo hauler and use the PT they give me to pick up some large items!
As far as having a dealership give you a new 300, I think that as hot as those cars are selling right now, I can't believe ANY dealer would rack up miles and dirt on a vehicle that they're sure to sell quickly. Think about it ... if you're racking up miles on their brand-spankin' new 300s, how can they be showing it to customers walking in every day? Plus then they'd have to sell it as a used vehicle. Wouldn't make any business sense at all.
Frankly, I'm extremely pleased that Chrysler is treating Crossfire owners so well by offering this free loaner car program. I didn't even KNOW about it until a week after I'd bought the car and got the info in the mail from Chrysler. I thought to myself, "wow ... this company really appreciates that I spent the extra money on buying this more expensive car." I'm certainly not going to complain about them putting me in a $27,000 PT GT Turbo!!!!

oh, you guys, PA must stink where loaners are concerned
got hit in a hit & run/drunk driver a few weeks back, major damage, and my insurance company (nationwide) allows $30/daily (got me into a hyundai (spelling, but who cares) accent, wasn't comfortable in the car to begin with and had an accident w/a highway barrier to boot).
anyway, once the driver that hit me came clean w/his insurance company (days later, no proof now of drunk driving, anyway....), i learned that HIS insurance company only covers $25 daily max...they put me into a neon.
so, consider yourselves lucky, i got crap for a loaner thru his insurance company (doesn't seem to matter to StateFarm what I drove before their drunk driver policy holder hit me). I didn't expect much, only maybe a sebring lxi (which is what i owned for 6 yrs waiting for the crossfire to come out). no worries, i'll live, but this damn 4-door stuff vs 2-door is driving me nuts, throws my whole sense of perception off, and I mean it.
any words of wisdom from fellow forum members (i'm gonna be w/out my crossfire for some time...at least until my dealer & their body shop make everything a bad dream). safe travels everyone bonster (2004 alabaster autostick)
