I tried searching the forum but couldn't find an answer to my question: how can I adjust the clutch so that it engages closer to the floor board?

The clutch engaging so high makes it very uncomfortable to drive.

I would walk away from this one too..... there may be more hidden things than you have already seen..... There are lots of nice NA Crossfires out there to choose from... just be a little patient...

I'm not going to rush into buying a car; winter has only just begun and I wouldn't mind keeping my tahoe for the snow. Now, I didn't mention many of the decent things about the car, such as the 99% clean exterior, 4 brand new tires and great overall feel and sound. I did however forget to mention that one of the rims had a small amount of rash from most likely hitting a curb. The car really felt solid and ran well but the oil aroma immediately threw up a red flag. I do like the look of the car, the interior was a bit cramped as to be expected and the rear view was very limited. I expected these things but the limited view out the windshield and side windows I didn't expect to be so minimal. I know that sport cars are a whole new territory for me and it just felt different. If the car is truly fixed and everything checks out then I may make a low offer on it. If I can make the offer low enough, then it leaves the possibility of me keeping my tahoe for now.

Agreed ..... you have to continually use your mirrors, because it's possible for a freaking SCENICRUSER to hide on your rear quarters .... But you just get used to it....... LOL

The first Crossfire I test-drove was a six-speed and I had to twist my leg
to miss the steering wheel due to the clutch engaging so high and my legs
being long. Luckily, I didn't have to worry about that when I found the SRT6 - no problem. I think an SRT6 may be just what you need....

haha, an srt-6 would be great but I can't find one in my price range . I think I'd be perfectly happy with the base coupe tbh. I really want to buy a manual car if possible, it's just more fun holding complete control behind the wheel.

I've never driven a Base .....maybe the seats make a difference ? My 6 spd is an '07 Limited I bought new ....after 72,000 miles I still love shifting it & I'm a hair over 6FT...190 lbs. My 08 is an automatic...have to say I love driving it also. I don't know if there is a way to alter the clutch engagement.....like I said earlier it's something you probably would get used to......

Both of mine had the tiny valve cover leaks & both were fixed under warranty. Oddly, the 08 was just a gasket repair....whereas the same dealership said there was a TSB from Chrysler on the 07s.....they replaced the entire valve covers....said it would have been over $1000.

To be completely honest It was basically the first time I've driven a manual car but my father mentioned the high clutch as well. I'd love to get this car if they fix the hood latch and fix what was most likely the valve cover leak. Unfortunately my family doesn't seem to think trading in my tahoe is a good idea. My father has a 4wd 05 chevy 2500 hd, but god forbid his brand new truck break down, they'd like me to keep mine as a back up . I understand that this crossfire isn't in the best condition but I feel like it may be worth buying if I can haggle down the price. I'm gonna shoot the dealership an e-mail about the car right now, the salesman seemed very truthful about the car, he even suggested that a valve cover leak may be the cause of the burning oil smell. So he does seem to know a bit about this car.

As a Dad, I would listen to him. Sports cars, back up car, go hand in hand. The clutch is what it is... Clutches are just things you will get used to. Old days, you could mess with adjusting the clutch to engage close to the floor. It wasn't a good idea back then and can't be done today anyway. People in the old days would do that, and wouldn't have any "free travel" left in the clutch. Look for one, or call the guy in a few "snowy" weeks and make him a low ball offer.....good luck...

I'm sure I could find a more comfortable position to use the clutch. Unfortunately I sent the dealer this email late last night:

"Was the hood latch fixed? I assume the scent of burning oil was from the valve cover gasket leaking; did the mechanic conclude this? After viewing the car I noticed the following issues:

-Bad headlight oxidation
-The rear right rim has deep scratches
-the front fender has bad scratches underneath
-Rear brake pads have little life left
-Hood latch broken
-Burning oil
-The interior upholstery is stained / dirty
-Dash panel is dirty / exterior of the car is dirty
-Upholstery above the rear window is loose and hanging, revealing the roof of the car
-Chipping of paint above the passenger side portion of the roof
-Clutch engages very high, requiring you to sometimes lift your foot off the floor board to fully engage

I was very disappointed in the condition of the car; If I do consider buying this vehicle, it will need to be lowered to a much more reasonable price.

-Cody"

and received this response:

"
Cody,

I have sent the vehicle out yesterday. It should be fixed by tomorrow. I can have it detailed properly. Price wise I can’t do anything if you are
Still interested then let me know.

Farhan"

Basically, this guy is a joke. He knew I was coming and didn't even bother to have the car in presentable condition. There were even pine needles in such areas as under the trunk hatch with no pine tree's in sight. Basically it seemed like they never bothered to clean the car since buying it from the previous owner. I'm going to send him an e-mail telling him he just lost a customer. This dealership is horrible! As a warning to everyone else considering Auto Trademark in Centereville, VA; don't bother.

Doults??? Ask for the Carfax to really see the record on any Car that has gone 95000 miles.

There are alot of Crossfires out there, being in Boise I had my Wife's 2008 shipped here for just 350 dollars. So check out the one you might really want.

Hey everyone, It's been a while since I last posted and unfortunately I haven't gotten the chance to go look at any more crossfires yet. I'm hoping to change that shortly . I'm now looking at 2 crossfires in my area, the first one has 93k miles on it and seems to be in decent condition with a clean carfax. The second one has the salmon red interior with 61k miles but seems to be in poor condition and has no readily available carfax, also from a dealer I've never heard of before . I'm hoping to convince someone to drive me around soon to go check them out since I won't be trading in my chevy tahoe (trade in value is simply too low). I've noticed in many of the cars I've seen online that the passenger side of the center console seems to have scrapes/scratches or wear marks along the upper edge, is this normal?

Its going to be case by case man. You are looking at high mileage used cars, every car is more likely than not going to have any number of random imperfections. Its something that comes with the territory. I don't know why you say the car with 61K miles is in poor condition? It looks alright to me, clean headlights (thats a huge plus right there) no visible damage.

The search is over! I bought a nice 04 limited today, I have to admit that it is much faster than I expected and for my first day driving stick on the road, I did really well . Here are some pics:

Haha, I love the white xfires but when I pulled up to the dealership, I was amazingly surprised at how much better this car looks up close. I fell in love with the darker interior and the dark gray / silver exterior looks amazing! I've driven the car for about 40-50 miles and I absolutely love it! The only complaint I have is the wind buffeting through the cabin with the windows down. It's no big deal and I'm sure I'll find some way to fix it (time for a forum search ). Did I forget to mention, that this thing corners superbly?

Congrats, the car looks great.
Usually the only time I notice wind buffeting, is when just "one" window is down. If you crack open the the other window, the buffeting stops.
Enjoy the ride.
