Get them down enough and jump on the Turbo Charger list.. . And internet is kinda slow.. noticed some of my points got covered whilst typing.. but the headlights look a little dingy...could just be the photo shot... might bring up the $450 dollar price tag to replace if they get any worse... then spend $20 bucks for the polishing kit and make them puppies shine!

 

I was just looking at the thread about what people on the forum have fit in their trunks, 2 full mtn bikes, a pocket bike, etc etc. Two golf bags would be great. I have all this space in my tahoe and it rarely ever gets used. I normally just leave my golf bag in the back on a regular basis. It would be nice to have the option of picking up my father and his clubs for a day on the course; thanks for your input! This car is about an hour from where I live and I'd prefer not to travel great distances with the chance of disappointment.

 

Hey group... I just found a 4 cylinder Crossfire! 2005 Chrysler Crossfire limited with 6 month warranty - $9999 Guess they have the same engine covers as the six bangers...

Let me know what that '99 Tahoe is worth....I have one with only 130K miles on it....love the ole' 'hoe....but the mileage she does suck.....good luck with your trade, but they will steal that 'hoe...in a $7k trade senario....If you can afford both, I would keep the 'hoe...welcome aboard...

Will do, I'm bringing my father along in case the trade value is horrible but I still buy the XF. Anything less than $2500 would be unacceptable imo; mine has 166k miles on her. She's treated me alright through the past 3 or 4 years with only a few minor issues. I'd love to keep both but I don't feel the need to pay both insurance rates / upkeep for both vehicles. If I buy the car w/o the trade in then I'll keep both until I manage to sell the tahoe on craigslist and pay off the XF. In an ideal world, I'd like $4k trade in for the tahoe, unfortunately this isn't an ideal world, lol.

 

I think if the body is in good shape, you should get $4k outright. My bottom would be in the $3-3.5 range in trade. Winter time, SUV vs Sports car....good luck and welcome either way....My 'hoe is my daily driver...she's been a good backup for a few yrs now. I don't see selling her, unless I get $7K out of her. She's spotless. But, everything is for sale for the right price...lol....

 

Trivial issues that might work as bargaining chips......look for the valve cover gasket leak & minor rear diff leak. Good Luck.

 

Mine has no dents or dings, no scratches or scuffs, but it does have some paint fading on the roof and the carpet isn't very clean. Never ever ever ever lend your car a a mechanic friend that promises not to get grease on your interior... If I got a trade in value over $3.5k I'd have no problem accepting it. I'm actually thinking about posting a craigslist feeler for my tahoe right now. KBB lists it at around $4,700 in it's current "fair" condition.

I doubt I'd ever go as far as buying a vehicle without test driving it first. I'm a bit **** when it comes down to fine details and imperfections. Hopefully it turns out to be the car of my dreams and I get a good trade in value. It would be by far the most expensive "christmas gift" I've ever gotten for myself. I know if I pull up to work in that car jaws are gonna start dropping.

 

If it's a 6 spd it might take a while to get used to it, the stick works smoothest when driven aggressively. At slow speeds you might think it clunky.....as you learn to up the revs / rev match you'll come to love it.

Has kinda a launch control feature, at a dead stop (0 mph), if you floor the gas the engine goes to 4,200 rpm & stays there till you drop the clutch.....rev limiter is then around 6,000 rpm.

 

Thanks for the warning, Chris. I went to look at the car today and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. First I checked the exterior for damage and imperfections; it was dirty but had very few imperfections. I opened the trunk and was surprised to see how large the space was; then I noticed that the roof material was peeling all around the top of the trunk, just below the weather strips. I sat in the drivers seat and eventually found a comfortable position that suits me rather well. I was very disappointed to find the hood latch was broken, not allowing us to look under the hood for me to check out the fluid levels and the valve covers. Then my father and I took it for a test drive. We found that the clutch seemed to operate very well and smoothly but the clutch engaged so high that we had to lift our feet off the floor in order to shift which made it a chore to drive. I took it in a parking lot and and found that the car handled very well in tight space maneuvering. Unfortunately the car started burning oil and we took it straight back to the dealer. I could only assume this was the valve cover leaking since I couldn't open the hood... The interior was a bit dirty and it looked as if no attempt was made by the dealer to clean any part of the vehicle even knowing when I would be stopping by. There were a few crumbs and gunk on the dash paneling but I figured I could easily clean that myself since the dealer seemed to neglect the cars cleanliness. While getting out of the car I noticed a few, dime sized paint chips on the roof just above the passenger door as well as the bad oxydation on the headlights. The dealer told me he would have his mechanics fix the hood latch and the valve cover gaskets. I told him to let me know when he fixes them and I might be back to take another look at the vehicle. I didn't bother making an offer yet but after seeing the car I'd probably play in the ballpark of $6200-$6500 otd. I defintely found some nice haggling material so we will see how that goes...

 

Geez Live2drive ..... I know you have gotten yourself very excited about getting this car, but unless you are in "desperate" need, I would walk away from this one. Drive your Tahoe for a while and be as patient as you can. I think I can say for all of us, that we wouldn't want you to get into something way over your head, and be totally sorry, Start your search over. There are XFs that are available that you will be much happier with, at about the same price, or a little higher. When you factor in all the problems with this one, and add up the cost to bring it into shape, you're probably factoring in another couple of thousand. Get a decent one from another known owner, for about 8 grand, or a little more.
Put a notice in the Car to Buy section here, and see what come in. It may not be real close to you, but many here that are close to a specific vehicle, would prolly be happy to check it out for you. Many of the cars that members own, are pretty well known by other members of the forum. So ... let the members know you are looking, and we can help. In my estimation, this is the way to buy one. I know it can be difficult when looking, to throttle in ones emotions. But just do it......
