Transmission Problem...Please Help!!!
Transmission Problem...Please Help!!!
Ok today i was driving home from work. Came to an all way stop sign, car would not take off, felt like it would not shift so i gave it some extra throttle, it takes off slowly and begins shifting. The car drives fine the rest of the way home normally until the driveway. Pulled into the driveway and stopped to inch the car forward into the garage. Same problem occurs, it's like the car is in neutral, so i stop and try to shift into park and start over, but the gear shift will not make it past N. While in the N position i notice than on my dashboard it still shows D. I keep trying and keep trying no go, give it more throttle...nothing. Then while my gear shift is back in the D position i let off the brake and move the gearshift all the way to R position. It catches....thank God, but still showing D on the dashboard. So move it to P position and turn the car off and restart, everyting works fine and everything shows up fine on the dash except when i shift to drive it hits so hard initially its like getting rear ended, and after a few times going through all the gears i'm back to the first problem with the only solution to get the car back into park is what i've already discribed above. Please any info or suggestions would be appreciated. New member to the thread so thanks in advance.......04 Crossfire Coupe, Automatic. Sorry about this being so long, but i wanted to include all details.
Re: Transmission Problem...Please Help!!!!
At 96k with no Transmission Service to date, my first guess would be low tranny fluid.
It's also possibly low due to a common leaky transmission connector (bad gaskets).
See this link and move on down to the Transmission Section:

If your not a wrench guy, I would find a reputable and recommended Transmission shop.
I also would not drive that car till resolved.
Damage that tranny beyond repair, and your looking at big bucks...
