Default Totaled...

I'll start by saying that Kim and I are okay. We both walked away without a scratch, she has a sprained foot but nothing major.

It was a Chrysler-on-Chrysler accident, a Pacifica turned left in front of us and we were in the far right lane, doing ~40mph.

Someone in the far left lane had let him out, traffic was stopped in the middle lane and my lane was wide open. He had gunned it, and was in our lane -- I maybe ten feet to bring it to a halt. Wet roads prevented that. We t-boned him, rolled his SUV and deployed both airbags in my car. The other driver was uninjured from what I would tell... Front end on mine is obliterated. Frame is tweaked as well, we couldn't even open the passenger door. Eventually I had to pry it open, bending the fender. Engine is up against firewall.

He was ticketed, as I was in the right of way. His insurance company will be contacting me, to work it all out.

The Crossfire's build protected us. Had we been in Kim's Honda, the outcome would have been a lot worse.

So... I'm bummed but God is good. We were kept safe, and we will find another car. Those are easily replaced. I'll try to salvage what I can from the car, to pass along to my next replacement. I'll need a few days to gather my thoughts, so no vultures please.

Cheers,

That's a damn shame with all the time that you've put into it recently and the big plans that you had. Glad that you and the Mrs were unharmed. Hopefully you'll have the insurance sorted soon and be back in and even better Crossfire.

CRAP .... glad you guys are OK ... seems you have the right frame of mind about replaceable things. Another XF will happen, but we can't replace us.

aw, man, John, I am so sorry to hear about the car, with all you've done to her she was beautiful. But of course most of all I am so glad you and Kim were ok. Let's keep the prices down until John can find another. Mark

I had a similar thing happen to me in my integra last year. I was at 10mph t-boned the guy in a SUV, he had a mild dent and my car was demolished. (he was at fault completely). I feel alot safer in the crossfire. I am extremely sorry that this happened to you but I am glad you both are ok, that is the most important thing. Why do people feel the need to drive absolutely insane with a feel of invincibility!!!!!!!!!

John, so glad to hear you and Kim are OK. Thank God.
It really bums me out that your Alabaster with a Cedar/Slate is history.
Good Luck with the insurance co.

I'm so sorry to hear of this. Glad that you both are ok. These cars are amaze'n. Every time I read another "I'm/we're ok but the car is totaled" I'm just a little happier about my car. Hope the insurance company does right by you.

John very sorry to hear about the wreck. Most important, you and Kim are OK! The car did what it was supposed to do, it protected both of you from major injury. I hope you return to the Crossfire ownership ranks and continue to build a develop another beautiful machine! Best of luck in dealing with the insurance company.

Glad to hear you are okay. I was recently in an accident in my C55 in which the car was totaled and I can relate; it is no fun at all to go through that process and it is downright scary. Yet it also puts things in perspective. As you said, your wife and yourself are safe and that ultimately is all that matters. These little Chryslers (or should I say, Mercedes-Benzes) are tougher than they look. A stiff frame, structurally sound, with German safety features that is strong enough to roll an SUV where some small cars would crumple upon impact? Just makes me feel safe driving my SRT-6.

There are plenty more fish in the sea (i.e. cars) to be had. Enjoy your Thanksgiving with your family.

Glad to hear you're ok! Hope you can find a little satisfaction in blasting an idiot in an SUV and flipping it over, it sucks that Kim was hurt though.

The important thing is you and the wife. Glad to hear you are safe and the car did you right. Now you can get an SRT6, if you can find one.

I hate to hear of this, but I'm glad you both are fine. You might not find another XF as pristine as yours, but I'm sure you'll come close. Good luck.

Wow John, that's terrible. I'm glad that you're both okay and I hope the insurance company can work things out for you. One less Alabaster on the road.
