I must say, I've been very impressed (thus far) with the follow-up and handling by my insurance company (Farm Bureau TN). They are seemingly bending over backwards to assist me. I should be in a rental by this evening.
I have a lawyer on standby, just in case, for the medical stuff but I pray I don't have to use him.

Use this to get the best deal possible for the buy back and car replacement cost. I used this to get them to give me a wrecked car for nothing. Just hang on like a pit bull.
It is to their benefit that all claims are settled ASAP as costs and late claims force up the final costs.
Remember they are not your friends, they just like money.

I'm 100% positive I'm getting the white roadster with vanilla interior... simply "gawjus". And, to keep the purists happy, I will be getting the 6-speed.
Expect an even more exquisite modding plan for this next one.

But imma gonna guess the new crossfire will see more driveway time if Kim isn't into the manual shift ( hated my wife taking my Miata..."but I have to drive further and this saves us money" )...
Left me taking my old Chevy pickumup since I couldn't stand her Montero.

The compromise was effortless, actually. She simply said "it's your car, get what you enjoy driving the most"
I told her we would simply work on her heel-toe. With the next one being a convertible, I can jump out if she starts bucking the car too badly.
Re: Totaled...
Give Steve the name and address of that uninsured motorist......I'm sure he would like to do what I am thinking right about now...lol.... I would assume your insurance company will sue the guy to get their money back, and make sure he doesn't have a license until he pays up... Good luck, just make sure all the bumps and bruises are healed befory you settle up...

Re: Totaled...
Glad to hear you are staying with the 6 spd John. As much fun as crumpy's SRT is to drive, I miss the rowing part and always glad to get back into mine.
Your uninsured driver is a hoot, now that your carrier came thru. I'm out 5 grand over an uninsured driver out on his 3rd DUI. Found out this week his restitution payments are no longer coming because, he cannot seem to hold a job. So the court released him from the obligation.
It just never seems fair for those who play by the rules.
Kim is OK I presume. Glad to hear that.
I'll see you in January as the deal with our new client is a go. Hope you are into your new Crossie by then.

Wow Fran, I am a big reader of yours and was shock to see this. Cannot find a job, and then realeased from oblication....unbelieveable! That is one Judge I would not vote for.
This is one reason I carry Uninsured / Under-Insured motorist on my insurance policy. I have nevered used it but, my wife Rebecca (BluBird) has met 3 of the Groupies from the DUI Club. They seem to all not see her, while she waits at a stop sign or light. All rear end, and All NO Insurance.
The Law in most states is that you must have insurance, and yes you can't squeeze money out of them (they don''t have a job) then thye should always have that over there head, that if any money comes to them they still have to pay the olblication. Even in Prison they have to give part of the 28 cents per hour. So sorry to hear this...and Yes, I still think it is wrong.

My insurance company is handling everything proactively and professionally, no complaints so far but we still haven't reached a verdict on the value of my car.
For me to replace mine, (2005 white coupe, 6MT, <60,000 miles, two-tone interior) I'm looking at an average sale price of $13,800 based on Auto-Trader.com
The number was the same whether I canvassed a 500 mile radius or an unlimited mile radius. Edmunds TMV puts my car at $12,500.
I'm going to push for $13,500 for my car, but won't take a dime less than $13,000.
The pattern I'm noticing is Edmund's TMV is ~$2,000 less than the average sale price of the same vehicle on the car sales websites. For example, the TMV of the roadsters I'm looking at is $14,500... Average online price is $16,800. Same pattern applies to my car as a direct replacement.
Kim is OK, as am I, but she's still got a bruised foot from the sprain and her back is in a great deal of pain. This was documented on the ER visit one hour after the wreck, and the police report indicates the same. I have an annoying "twinge" in my back between my shoulder blades but nothing as painful as what she's experiencing.
Farm Bureau is covering it all and they waived my uninsured deductible, so at the moment I'm out-of-pocket $0. My agent said they would sue him for the damages and suspend his license until he pays.
Kim and I are considering an attorney as well. Basically have to present the facts to him and see if it's worth messing with (I hate the thought of suing someone but it's been advised for me to do so by countless folks). I'm not looking to get a yacht, I just don't want to be paying Chiropractor bills ten years from now for the injuries sustained in this wreck.
Thank you for the kind words, Franc. You'll have to grab dinner with me and Kim when you swing through.
