Advice Sought!!!
Advice Sought!!!
Greetings,
I wanted to throw a comment out there to see what I can catch in a reply. I have found a 2006 Limited Coupe with about 29k miles on it at a very low price. To my inspect the car is in excellent shape. I am having it inspected by a professional mechanic to go through a more detailed inspection to ensure that I did not miss anything on my initial inspection. I am very excited about the opportunity. I have wanted a Cfire for a long time now.
What general advice would you give to a new potential owner?
Would greatly appreciate some "sound" advice from a veteran owner of Coupe esp. a 2006.
My intent is to baby this car and use it as my middle age need driving it a few times a week.
Best Regards!!!!

Your intent to "baby" the car is well intentioned, however, these are devil cars you will find your right foot planted to the floorboard while froth is dribbling from your chin. Crossfires take being passed as an insult and demand instant retaliation.
#2 read the forum often and keep current on issues, this place has a wealth of information.
#3 if you don’t wench yourself, find a good mechanic. I’ve been fortunate to find my "man" at the Magic Mechanic in Orlando. He ain’t cheap, but he does it right every time.
#4 learn to do the little maintenance things yourself, like oil changes. It may look daunting but actually quite simple and straight forward (after you’ve done it once).
#5 sit back and enjoy these cars, they truly are special.

Re: Advice Sought!!!
well SATX, I have a 06, bought it in in Dec 08 with 10K on the clock, now just turned 33K so we're right in step. I have not had one problem in the 23K I've put on her. Nada. Once a year oil change, kept her sleeping from Thankgiving until March, this year maybe only mid Dec to March based on the weather pattern. Little niggling things like the rain drip but the gutter will fix that. The hatch rattle, but just adjust the bumpers on the sides, the heated seats work fine, gets 25mpg like clockwork, and not alot of anythin I can tell you. It just works like it's supposed to. best and most fun car I've ever owned.

There's a good chance, it will stay there, never to see NY weather again...lol...
I'm in Poinciana, about 30 minutes South of Disney, and always on the look out for a good Xfire mechanic.
Would you mind sharing the Name, Location, and Tele of Magic in Orlando.
Thanx...

Awesome for you! I just joined the family this past August and this is a special group you will be part of. I couldn't imagine owning one without it.
Few tips if you are buying from a dealer:
(1) Tires - if they are close to needing replacement you might want to negotiate their replacement. The rear tires can be pretty costly :-)
(2) Oil Change - ask them to change the oil and watch them put the Mobil 1 oil in. They may say they changed the oil but it is hard to know for sure and why take chances. Also - is costs $70-100ish for the oil and filter and most dealer don't know that so they say yes eagerly ;-)
(3) Window seals - check for wind noise and have them adjust the windows if needed. It is 100% labor, no parts but a pain in the *** to do yourself
(4) Check for oil seepage around valve covers and breathers. It is common, and isn't horrible. Breathers are easy to fix yourself. Both will scare a dealer into discounting.
Let us know what happens!

Re: Advice Sought!!!
Hey SATX, are you in San Antonio? I just bought my ’04 Crossfire at the end of June this year with only 57K miles on her. She runs like a top, and I’ve had no issues. I’ve put on new tires (pretty costly), changed wiper blades, new cabin filter, detailed engine, claybar exterior, and I”m happy as a lark.
I’m in San Antonio too and am always on the lookout for other Crossfires on the road. Hope you enjoy this fine car as much as I enjoy mine.
Keep us posted on how things go for you bud.
