Testimonial for Speedriven and RUDY
Testimonial for Speedriven and RUDY
I just picked up my red coupe today from Speedriven in Palatine, Illinois, where Rudy (Rcompart) did maintenance work on it.
I had the Auto transmission serviced, which consisted of draining and refilling with 236.10 Mecedes spec tranny fluid, and the tranny filter and seal replaced.
Also, a new tranny connector replaced because of it starting to leak.
Next, they flushed the coolant system and replaced with Mercedes 325.1 coolant.
There was the beginning of an oil leak by the drivers side valve cover, so I had them replace the gaskets and reseal the covers.
Rudy himself did the work, and I feel there is nobody more capable of doing the job than him.
Here's the kicker ..... I checked with Mercedes in StCharles, Illinois, and asked what they would charge to do the exact same work, using all the proper fluids and parts, and they quoted me $1200.00 ! Speedriven and Rudy's total out the door cost was $552.00 !!! Not only a lot less than Mercedes service, but the confidence of having people who know what they"re doing on Crossfires, is a formula that can't be beat.
Anyone withing a days drive should seriously consider them for service work, even if you have to stay overnite someplace nearby. The savings and confidence in the work, is more than worth it.
As an added benefit to me, is the fact that I had noticed a "drone" when the car would shift at about 26 mph and at 34mph when accelerating slowly, and now that "drone" is gone. My advice, as we all should know, is NOT to use anything in the transmission except the 236.10 tranny fluid. The brand they used is "Febi" and available from Mercedes suppliers on eBay. Just sayin .......

Re: Testimonial for Speedriven and RUDY
I have to agree here...finding the right mechanic will always help. Just like my tire dealer it makes all the world when it comes to service, especally when they just smile and says"you on your way!" and don't charge a dime. When you find one keep them, most of the time they will say a bunch of money. Thx for the testimonial...now can Ruby be national?
