Wow, didn't even think of that! Best of both worlds, you get the metal-flake in your paint and the matte finish at the same time!

Best place to get the 1080 gloss carbon is metrorestyling.com

@PitMarshall: I think you saw it when it wasn't washed for few days, pm me if you want to pass by see the car again all washed up =)
@BoilerUpXFire: i was sold on double spokes because I saw pics of your car, and was looking exactly for those wheels =)))

as far as washing goes, it has to be hand washed. I went through a couple of touchless car washes already but it should only be hand washed. Getting some light scratches that have to buffed out, just like regular paint.

As for chrome paint, good luck finding a professional that will actually take on painting a chrome car. Just like matte black paint, there are just some pro's that will actually take on a project like that and will have a good result. And the biggest downfall for paint is that it's not reversible.

ps. a lot of parts were removed off the car and prepped just like for a paint job (except the scuffing) to achieve a proper result

I went the exact opposite, keeping the metallic in the grey and opting for matte black accents, IMHO it does look KILLER, but since the matte black is so subtle, it barely stands out on the front or rear, only those truly in the know actually notice it, much like my BC accents, just the way I want it, under the radar

Alsa makes the only good looking chrome paint system. Just the materials alone are very expensive, even compared to custom paint. You'd need to find a shop that has their system, and I'd bet you'd pay $8,000 - $10,000 for a complete.

As for being reversible - all paint jobs can be taken off and redone.

I do not consider a paint job reversible, with vinyl, you could have the car back to stock in 30 minutes with no additional expense, not anywhere close with paint...

^^^ +1 .....Paint can be painted over.... not really reversed....I would love to have the Aero re-painted and then wrapped in clear to protect it.....

Perhaps a Stupid Question: Does the totally chromed effect have an influence on LE radar? Just curious..

I can't think of how it'd affect radar, but I'm almost certain it'd make the car a *lot* easier to get a good laser lock on.

Chrome wrap probably reflects about the same amount of radar as painted metal (radar is, of course, far outside the light spectrum and doesn't care much about color), whereas it reflects a hell of a lot more near-visible light back to a laser gun.

Well, yes... quite a difference in time and expense, but, it can be done.

If there is metal in the chrome vinyl, it would definitely help reflect RADAR, but, I don't know that it would be noticeably different from a car without it.

I'd say a phone call away.. would really be interesting to see paint and wrap cars side by side.

I like your thinking, Jim. I was quoted high end 3M vinyl, full wrap $3,000-$4,000 depending on material. A friend owns a shop and felt it would take that to truly do it right. As the OP's pics above show, to do it correctly is a lot of work removing and reinstalling parts and getting the vinyl to lay with no bubbles...
