Does this one look ok for $16,500?
Cars for Sale: 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Limited in Lake Orion, MI 48359: Convertible Details - 304134960 - AutoTrader.com
I'd have to fly 1100 miles to pick it up.
It's a 6spd in mint condition except some curb rash on 2 wheels.
I forgot to ask if there's road salt there but it looks like it's been sitting unused in a garage.
Opinions welcome.
Thx

Different areas have different markets, but as someone who has obsessively looked at them over the last year I think this is a fair deal. Not a great one, but one of those may not come as soon as you like. The miles are pretty low so the car has been sitting quite a bit over the last 6 years but I've never seen evidence that this hurt the XF. Best of all you will drive it nice and long.
You might not like negotiating like a hard ***, but if you do you can get another $500 off that price pretty easy. Tell them parts are becoming harder to find, the product is discontinued and was outsourced by Mercedes, blah blah and that they typically don't sell very quickly as they know based on how long they have had it. It has been on their lot for over 60 days which means it is tying up inventory cash of short term financing they need to churn. Tell them you know how hard it is for them to sell and that airfare costs more than you expected.
I guarantee you they really want to get this car off their hands, not because it isn't awesome but because they can be hard to sell.
Mine spent it's first 3 years in Michigan as a Chrysler self-leased vehicle. I don't see any rust on mine but the engine does have a splotchy pattern from the salt which is typical of the metal type and not a problem. If you don't beat them up more on the price, at least ask for an oil change and tell them you want to see them pour the Mobil 1 in before you go. It would be a shame if they put some crappy standard oil in it and you didn't know before a long drive.
Go. Fight. Win.
Or maybe I put too much effort into my purchases.
The Carfax looks good on this one too, but don't get too emotionally attached. If this one doesn't work you can get another that you will love just as much
I've had mine a month and I love it.

It's quite a commitment going after a car that far away. I have to trust that this guy say's it's "mint".
Re: Does this one look ok for $16.500?
I suggest deciding what you feel comfortable spending and just tell them that is all you can and will spend and if it doesn't work for them, find another. They need to sell this car more than you need or want it, I assure you. It has been sitting there since July on their lot based on the Carfax.
Another tip- they aren't good at negotiating remotely because they don't have the control factor they have in a dealership where you have invested your physical presence.
With that mileage, it looks like it was passed from owner to owner as a true luxury sometimes-driven vehicle. Getting on in mint condition with 25-35K miles wouldn't be much different if you can reduce cost there too.

I'd offer 15 for the red ones and not more than 14 for the black one it's a base model. Remember these cars are 6 years old. I wouldn't travel 1100mi. because a dealer said a car was mint. Keep looking in Texas where you can see it and drive it. Be patient.

I'm checking with the bank in the morning and will talk with the sales guy on the price then make a decision. They need to do a little better than $16.5.
My larger concern is to fly to Detroit and find out there's stuff wrong with it. If it were San Diago, it wouldn't be so bad. lol
Re: Does this one look ok for $16,500?
Make sure all the warranty work was done on an older model such as the 05s with the soft top. I believe they had problems with them opening and closing plus the rear window on the top was an issue! I prefer the hard top convertibles open up a whole other can of worms! To each is his own I guess.

Re: Does this one look ok for $16,500?
Ditto... Bigkid...... See if someone in the MI area can check the car out for you first. That's a long flight and a major commitment to make if the car turns out not to be as it is represented.
And, ditto others..... be patient. There's fun in the hunt!

Re: Does this one look ok for $16,500?
If you'd like another reference point, I purchased my Roadster from a Chrysler Dealer, It's a 2007.
It had 12k miles on it, and came with the Powertrain Warranty (written on the Bill of Sale), and four (4) new tires (Conti's).
It was mint inside and out, and I paid $18.5.
And I'm driving it like I stole it...
Don't get too hung up on price, but in the scheme of things, it always matters.
If the car meets all of your criteria, go for it...

$20k is only about 12-13K GB pounds ........are you sure SRT6's are cheaper than that ? ..........if so I'm coming back to buy another one
