Is it still there? The sales guy quit calliing. If it is, absolutely drive it. Maybe the clutch is fried or something.
I'm on vacation now but the bank isn't open until monday. I'ld like this car (for the right price) but I'm going to keep looking around to.

On my way out tonight I drove by the dealership and didn't see it in its usual location. Now that I think of it, this car was always parked in a more peculiar location on the lot than all the other cars, the dealer was surely trying hard to get rid of it.

For what it's worth saw two Roadster on Van Dyke last night, Sterling Heights Mi. One SSB @ 17K the other Classic Yellow at $16K if I remember right. Both at dealers. Didn't stop to check them out and so have no idea of details. Also check Craigs list nation wide by putting this into the search box:
Chrysler Crossfire site:craigslist.org
I have often seen true one owner cars listed that would be worth the effort to call and consider. Good luck.

Also silly detail but check that the two landing pads (small rectangle pieces of plastic on/in the windshield header that sit next to the holes that the soft top locks into) are still there. One each side. They are approx $80 each to replace. Without them when you close the top it bangs down metal against metal. They have a porcupine type post that fails over time. Ours fell into the header and was rolling about on turns, rattle...rattle....rattle. If one's missing and the dealer wants to move the car let him order and pay for the little turd sized pieces of plastic. We got ours out after a ride on the dragon and with me holding it as it rolled by (finger held in the hole over the head until a pull off) used the tweezers I'd put in the glove box waiting for that moment by playing "Operation" if I bumped the edges it would of dropped back down into the abyss! Then I repaired it with plastic cut from some junk thing and glued it on. Smartest would be to glue them onto the header.

Oct 9 update, Herb checked these two out, his impressions are on the GLCO FaceBook page:
http://www.facebook.com/groups/20308...69597879739291
pretty sad to see them mistreated.

That 120,000 mile base roadster I looked at in Chatanooga last year was supposed to be "mint" and "near factory condition". It needed a top, a good steam cleaning under the hood and had a plastic rear window.

Just sayin......

Yes. There's always a difference between a sellers "MINT" and a buyers "MINT"

Ok. The cars still there. They moved it because they sealed the parking lot.

I'm checking with the bank tomorrow because they're closed today.

I'm thinking of offering $15,500. Do you think that's a good price...if it's actually in mint condition.

I'm afraid it will have the original 7 year old Conti's on there and the ride will suck. New tires are $800.

I dropped by another Blaze Red XF today just to rethink the color. I'ld like to have a red car but these almost look maroon depending on which angle you see it.

They have this gold/champane color that looks really cool but there appears to be only 1 for sale in the US and it has miles on it.

The light silver is also nice. There's 1 with 9k for about the same price somewhere.

What would you pay for this one?
2005 Chrysler Crossfire Convertible Limited!!

I'm thinking $11something? It's been on their lot a while.

It would be a really small loan and maybe get a warranty with it?

Thoughts? (i know i'm bugging you guy's a lot with this but you're the bomb on this subject).
Thx

What about this one you mentioned or any of the others that have been posted by members? I believe I would:
1. buy from a member of this forum who you can get some history about and gain some confidence in your purchase or,

2. negotiate with the seller of the 9k car because with that mileage, the car is not yet broken-in. It must look like brand new!

Just my $.02. Let us know what you decide.

Ok you can go to Kelly Blue Book and check this out:

a 2005 Manaul Roadster is priced about 13800 if in "good condition". The milage I used was 66000 miles. You can go to the web site and look this up.

The value of the manual shift is what brings down the price. (more fun though)The Auto's are usually 800-1000 more.

Hope this helps. To help you you might want to use google and put in the window :chyrsler crossfire for sale" and see different prices around the us. If you have $15000 most likley you can get a newer one 2005-2006 with lower mileage.

It would be very difficult to purchase from a private party as the bank wants the title before sending out a check. It's a Texas thing.

Mabye it is a Texas thing.....but.....

Talk to Bank of America. I found my car in AZ, I'm in GA. I flew out, saw the car, loved it. Called the bank, they overnight-ed the check to me in AZ and I went to the DMV with the seller. Got a clear AZ title and drove home.

Turned the title over to the country clerk when I got here and registered the car. SIMPLE! I had a clear title to a car I owed 10,000 dollars on for five days!

You CAN buy from an individual ! BOA was very good to deal with, lady said that "with your credit rating, we can loan you the money on a promise that you will surrender the title to us within ten days". At the time, my credit scores were from 776 to 803, this proves one thing: I'm very good at being in debt!

There may be a state thing that gets in the way, but there wasn't in GA.

So the used car salesman said it was "mint", huh? Mint means brand bleeping new showroom condition. It means NEW tires and not cheap ones, CRYSTAL CLEAR headlight covers, flawless paint and interior and tip-top mechanical condition. Anything short of that, even the slightest detail, and you should run awaaaaaaaaay. One question to the dealer will settle it: "Do you offer a warranty?" If it's truly mint, he should at the very least offer you 12 months/10,000 miles.

My take is the dealer is playing on the low mileage and asking a premium over blue book. If you want a bone stock show car and this one meets your needs, go for it.

On the other hand, if you want the best car you can get for your money consider this: a year ago I paid less than $15K for a 60,000 mile SRT-6 roadster with desirable mods -- lowered, aftermarket wheels, CAI, rear deflectors, HD radio. I have had no mechanical problems and put nearly 25,000 miles on it since I bought it.

Every used car is a pig in a poke. The one you're looking at spent seven YEARS in snow country. You decide, but I think you'll be taken for a ride and not in a good way.

No matter how good of care it's received. Bought mine off my best friend (financial issues..just needed out from under his payments), his wife was primary driver. 700 miles later..abs-esp-spoiler in the air. Now my wife complains about prices to repair (window shopping parts). Told her I have a long way to go to catch up to her 30 grand Tahoe..lol.

The one in Flint is too expensive. I've been weeding through hundreds of ad's. The best one was an 05 LTD Roadster with 22k asking $15K...but it was gray.

My best friend is time. I'm in no hurry and it's getting colder and dealers are continuing to lower their prices.

I'm not as stoked about the red one's as before. I really like the lite silver ones or maybe yellow or blue. Depends on the mood I guess.
