1,000 Mile Review of my Crossfire Coupe
Re: 1,000 Mile Review of my Crossfire Coupe
"To the future generations that might enjoy the future collectible in my garage: too bad, you should have been more sooner. I'm taking every mile I can out of this care with reckless regard for future value in the true spirit of selfish automotive fulfillment."
This is exactly how I feel. At first when I got mine I figured that I would baby it so that my kids or grandsons could have it after I go. But the more I drove it the more I got to think'n that this isn't a car made to sit in a garage just gather'n dust. They'd all said my car is nice but none have gone gaga over it. So now I just beat the hell out of it. I live in the middle of twisties and durn'n the week I'm about the onlyest one around here and all I gotta do is drive. I figure that I just mite wreck this one but hell, they are cheap enuff that if I do, I'll just get another one. I'm a lucky man!

Really some great driving enthusiast dialogue in this thread. Like others, the XFire becomes something of an "erogenous zone" experience everytime we get into the car & go for a ride! I especially liked the commentary on the steering characteristics of the XFire. Most likely due to the re-circulating ball steering system and possibly a worn steering damper. The steering damper on these cars is essentially a routine maintenance service (replacement) every couple of years or 30k miles. Part is less than $20 and replacement is simple.
Keep those commentaries coming! I've really enjoyed them. Coupes Rule!!!

I'm looking forward to leaving Monday afternoon and heading down through some mini-Dragon roads in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. I'll be carving up the curves with a cloud of whirling leaves in my wake.
Tomorrow is a pure car day: A wash, clean and polish for the Z4 and XF. Accompanied by some great music and a beer...and my cat.

Finally, and this a little overdue....
This is my XF: Message - CrossfireForum.org Gallery
It took a bit to park at the right angle to catch the cross in the body
And these are the German "cousins": Message - CrossfireForum.org Gallery
