Very Sad Times For The Crossfire @ The Track
Very Sad Times For The Crossfire @ The Track
so i took my xfire to the track a couple days ago,and i couldnt believe what i was witnessing! i was running low 10's on the 1/8 mile...i finally hit a 9.9 on my last run!WOW!
my acura integra that i had before this use to run mid 9s...i had traction control off but outbof the hole the xfire just sucks!!!! kept on bogging out in first taking at least 1sec off my times..so i heard u can "FULLY" take traction control off...anyone know how? im feeling lazy and dont wanna search for it
p.s after i ran one of my times, i heard someone in a low voice say."that car is slow'..like if it looks fast, but its not....I THOUGHT TO MY SELF OH NO!!

its just off the line it still stalls out..even with traction control off... what your talking about is called power shifting.

Ok under your hood passenger side thur is a set of three wires that run into a connection thur pretty heavy gauge pop open the cap and unhook the center wire all traction control will be gone I can do crazy burn outs with mine now full posi! Down side no abs and 2 dash lights this only works on 04 and 05s otherwise you lose brake lights but at the track who cares! This car isn't a drag car tho and wasn't designed to be used this way its heavy and under powered for that type of racing get it on a road course thats where it shines!

sick ride btw..soon i'll be getting the sickest wheels to have ever been on a xfire
Re: Very Sad Times For The Crossfire @ The Track
If you buy wheels you are in for one hell of a project. The wheels must be similar offset and you will have to buy aftermarket lug bolts. Not just lug bolts that fit the wheel be it conical or ball seated but the correct length if they are 2mm to long you will run the bolts straight into the ebrakes on the back hubs and will do roughly 1500 bucks in damage!!! Do your research and ask questions PM me if you need to it'll save you time and money.
The hubs on our cars are centric hubs any wheel you buy needs to be centric fit or come with centric rings the bolt pattern is 5x112 I'm not sure of the stock offsets. I am currently working on getting spacers for mine.

Thanks

As for drag racing a Crossfire, especially in the 1/8 mile..... why? I find drag racing, even in a car a fair bit quicker in the 1/4 than the Crossfire, to be kind of boring. A few seconds of straight line fun is no fun at all compared to running a road course for 20 minute sessions at a time - WOT acceleration, threshold braking, max g corning, heel & toe downshifting, and chasing down other cars that nobody expects you to be able catch in your "R170 SLK in a fancy party dress". No offense to Don Prudomme, "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, John Force, etc but I'd rather channel Sir Stirling Moss, Tazio Nuvolari or Ayrton Senna while driving my Crossfire.

TSW makes a bunch of wheels that fit our cars - I just got a set of Doningtons in 18 x 8.5 and 19 x 9.5 and swapped my existing tires onto them. Had the install done at a well known, high end shop in Huntington Beach, CA that is familiar with high end Euro cars. They kept my 100mm rear spacers in place and just used the appropriate length and taper lug bolts. Had me in and out in about an hour.

Mike i agree if you have a shop do it its easy but i only have 900 bucks in my wheels and lugs done myself at a shop what would that have cost me? To do it your self your in for a project i cut and dyed 20 lug bolts to length!! That sucked!! After learning wtf centric meant and centric rings all this "extra" stuff lol

i would boost my xfire, but it has a embaressing redline at 6k.....(pointless)...-not enough time for the turbo to spool.and im sure you can chip the ecu to let it redline higher, but how much can a stock head take???
