The same thing happened to me a couple months ago. They denied it at first but eventually reimbursed me for two new (used) wheels. I kept the scared ones for winter tires. Good luck.

Ouch!

And they wonder why some customers are so touchy.

why "unnamed"? We want to know who to stay away from in the future.

Unnamed because I'm waiting to get them back. They're sending them out to be reconditioned some place in Detroit. My car will be sitting up on a rack all week in their shop til the wheels are returned. The car is in perfect condition and I want it to stay that way.

I'm glad you brought this to my attention, as I'm having new Mandrus Wilhelm Rims mounted next week.

I'll now remember to show them the befores, and check closely when they are done.

I'm just wondering if there is any way to avoid this, that Tire Mounting machine, and it's moving crow bar, looks like it has a mind of it's own.

Or was that just sloppy work on the part of the shop...???

Well, at least they did send them out to be repaired, which says a little something for them...

It looks like they don't have the proper updated equipment to do the work on rims and tires of the size.

It is good that are making it good for you. I have had several rims repaired/refinished for other reasons with no problem. However inspect them good before going home. I have seen shotty work, miscolored, etc...

Might be a good idea to take some pictures with the salesman present. I would hate to be shopping in MI this weekend and not know which tire monkey to avoid.

you know....the rims were one matter...but what really got my goat was the inch of brake dust they splattered on everything (maybe thinking i wouldn't notice?) (i am blonde after all). I do have to give them credit tho....the back tires were done previously and everything came out perfect!

I worry about this very thing every time I go to the tire shop. Hope they fix them right for you.

Get references from other car folks before you pick a shop to mount your wheels/tires. See a nice set of wheels on a car ....... ask them who mounted them. You can never be too careful. This is a great place to ask, probably a lot of folks here from your area.
Some of these tire places have "hacks" working for them. They could care less about your wheels. If you can't find anyone ask a high end car dealer who they use. Bad service can happen anywhere but you can do some homework and reduce the chances of what happened to you. Hope they fix them for you.

Let me guess, the damaged rims are on the Right side of the vehicle?

Wow, all that from tires being put on a car? Wow! I love the Discount Tires store down the street. They are always careful when it comes to mounting tires/rims. Good luck!

It's impossible to change tires without scarring the rims. Just make sure they run they run the machine/bar around the inside of the wheel. I stand next ro them and watch them do it. Of course i stand next to the guy when i get my oil changed too.

WOW....I”m in shock to see the damage they did to your rims. There’s NO EXCUSE for that kind of work REGARDLESS. Even if the name of your business has “Discount” in it, this should not be part of the routine work performed on PAYING CUSTOMER’S rides. I hope you are able to get some sort of compensation for the damages that are CLEARLY caused by improper tire change out.

They should not be using a bar to mount those tires at all...The machine we use at work to mount BMW tires(run flats which are the worse) does not scratch the wheels...Looks like they were using a older machine no for low profile tires.

doesn't have "discount" in the name of store, but "tire" certainly is there. i agree, no excuses...this is all they do at this place...tires. as i stated earlier, the back tires were done a few months ago, and came out perfect, not a scratch, nothing, and all shiney and clean (the tires) when i went to pick the car up. just the opposite this time, absolutely filthy and gouged up. what a shame.
