It is a topical treatment for use in detailing an engine bay. Comes in an aerosol spray can; silver with a black top. Product seals components under the hood and keeps out dirt & water. Just need to make sure you get the engine clean first.

I use Greased Lightning Shop & Engine Degreaser. Product has been the best yet I've used. Comes in a purple pump spray bottle. What I like about the product is that it starts attacking dirt & grime right away. All I have to do is rinse it off using the fan spray setting on my water nozzle. No real force is required when rinsing the engine bay. Keeps the electronics exposed to minimal moisture.

Bob's procedure worked for me.
I was not trying to be a smart ***, I am glad this way works for you, but I get the same results by following the procedure on the can, and my engine bay does not look like someone hosed it down with astroglide

Quit worrying about it. I never took your comments as being other than simply stating that you followed the can instructions and got similar results.

For me, it didn't work in the past. Keep in mind, when I used CD-2 on my Merkur XR4Ti's, these were non-intercooled turbo engines and that might be too much heat setting for CD-2. Always turned yellow and made the engine bay a mess.

The F-150 turned out great. I am glad my procedure has helped some of you. I absolutely love the stuff, and will use nothing else.

OldSalt, you should be able to find CD-2 at AutoZone. It is a TurtleWax product. They quit selling it for several years.... Something to do with PETA complaints Anyway, they must have figured out how to get around whatever their complaint was, and began selling it again about a year and a half ago.

Well, some people would think that getting up on a ladder to take a picture of your engine bay on a daily driver would be a bit obsessive........ But, I like the way you think.
