2nd ECU with a power tune?
Re: 2nd ECU with a power tune?
Short answer, no. Your ECU has to be VIN coded for your car. However, if you choose to go with a Eurocharged tune you can buy the handheld programmer which you can have multiple tunes on and flash back and forth between tunes.
...can I ask, why you would want multiple tunes? Unless there is a specific ECU issue when you take it to the dealer, you will have no issue with the dealer...and if you do, prominent companies like Eurocharged offer free re-tunes.

Re: 2nd ECU with a power tune?
The N/a Crossfires use a very common ECU that was used in many MB's. You can find them easily on Ebay and you may find one in the $100 - $200 range. You need to get the same part number that is on your stock ECU. There are a couple of numbers but you want to match the one that starts with A112153.... Then you need to have it unlocked. Rudy may be willing to do this or you have to send to Beckmann technologies. Cost to unlock is $250. You then need to have it programmed to the car. the easiest way to do this is with the Chrysler system with the Crossfire card in it. This is an easy process but you may have to go to a dealer to have it done. the option is using the MB SDS system with developer mode as this is how we code V8 MB ECU's to a Crossfire. There aren't many people who know how to do this and most likely you will have to have the car with Rudy or at an independant shop that can work remothely with Bechmann or Rudy. In your case the Chrysler system is the way to go as long as it has the capability. the last option is to buy a clone of the SDS system like Rudy, Jimmy and I did and learn how to do it yourself. Like It said it can be done but spending about $450 for the Eurochaged flasher is the easiest by far.
Re: 2nd ECU with a power tune?
I'm a newbie to crossfires and this forum - saw some threads about the ECU - from what I gathered, something can be done to the ECU which will improve performance - what is the ECU and what can be done to it to improve my car and how much does it cost? any help would be appreciated.
