window noise problem
window noise problem
Hi all!
I'm a newbie here
I just have one quick question though!
Friend and I testdrove Xfire today, cause he is in love with
this car, and he's actually thinking of buying it.
The car was very nice; it performs very much like my ride(350z)
although, Xfire was actually more comfortable than Z.
However, we found out that wind noise was much worse than
any other cars, and I was just wondering if all crossfire has such
a bad wind noise?
Another strange thing was there was no power window seal action
like 350z or 3 series coupe. (window rolls up a bit when the door is closed)
Is it normal?

It would be nice if the crossfire had that action on the windows theyDC must be saving that option for another year! I had a350Z track and sold it to get Crossfire! You felt the German ride difference in one test drive. That's why i got it.wind ? sometimes the windows when they're up don't seal ,i had to open mine then reclose it because it stuck on the out side of the seal.Try that first.Goodluck
8) Yes, the Crossfires do have a wind noise problem. However, a trip to your "friendly" Chrysler dealership should have the problem fixed. In fact, if he has not bought it yet, I would ask the dealer to fix it before he takes delivery. There are a couple of TSB's out about fixing the wind noise, and I understand that once it is fixed, the noise is virtually gone. (I haven't had ours fixed yet).
The great thing about this forum is, ask a question - and someone will undoubtedly know the answer for you :!:
The Crossfire is a great car - but do not let your friend buy it if he does not like to get attention or does not like to smile. Because with this car, both will happen constantly 8)
Welcome :!:

I had the wind noise problem in the p side when I first got my Crossfire. But this forum had made me well aware of it so I brought the car to the dealership the day after I bought my XFIREX for the wind noise problem...and it's fixed! Hmmm...now..after 5 months of being a proud XFIREX owner, I'm still thinking what other imperfections my XFIREX have...NONE at this time! GREAT!

That way I can check with the dealer on the first oil change to see if they had been done, before the purchase.
Thanks

This series of posts and others dealing with wind noise has been incredibly helpful.
I test drove my x-fire Thursday and got to keep it overnight. Noticed significant noise coming from driver-side window when I drove it Thursday night at speeds of 100 km/h. Slightly disappointed since I'd heard the car is supposed to be relatively quiet.
Bought the car anyways at 1:30 on Fri (Jun 11) and took deliver at 4 because I wanted it before the weekend. Didn't get the wind noise problem fixed although was promised by the dealer that they would look into it next week and would send a mechanic with me on the short test drive.
Am now wondering if I should have insisted on getting it fixed before delivery although someone mentioned that dealers often won't do anything until the car is bought by someone.
Wish me luck!

In the interim till it's fixed, once you're in the car, try bumping the windows down then back up with the controls. That cuts the wind noise SIGNIFICANTLY on mine. Many other small 2-seaters like ours (with no door-attached window frame) do that automatically every time you open the door. For some reason Chrysler decided not to put a circuit like that in this car. Probably would have eliminated a lot of TSB service work if they had, since at least in my experience it has a major effect on the amount of wind noise.
If you had waited, you'd have lost a weekend of :!:

I have tried this trick and it does not help on mine. Have had it to the dealership twice and still not fixed. Going to get tough with them and insist that it be fixed. I know it can be fixed they are just being lazy.

Windnoise problem
X-fire was in at the dealer last Friday. They were incredibly helpful and knew about the 2 TSBs. The noise is now down to about 50% and I'm told "including on the work order" that they are working with Engineering (?) to see how the problem can be eliminated.
Well ... ? I don't know what to think now. Is this a design flaw?
