Default Needswings has the Wavetrac for crossfires. '04 to '08

Needswings now has the wavetrac for all Crossfires 2004 to 2008

The Wavetrac is the carrier in the differential , all the axles fit into the diff N/A or srt the 2004 to 2009,,The 04 crossfire has axles stubs,,( this is where things change) the axle stubs from a crossfire or slk have to be sent along with your differential to ( call Rob at Needswings,he will have the info on where to send you diff. They will modify your axles so that it becomes a pushing in and out type like the srt6 , Rob will return your C-clips and your diff with the axle stubs in it ,you may pull the stubs without removing the rear cover, to install the diff into car,or leave them there.

Now for the c-clip,,it is used in the 2004 Crossfire and some Mercedes when unitrax gets you diff and axle stubs they machine about .020 out of the grove on the end of the axle so a spring clip will fit this will alow the axle to be a push in type like the other Crossfires are now. if you ever decide to remove the Wavetrac to sell it or what ever, you should swap the axle stubs with whomever you sell it to if they have a SLK or an 2004 Crossfire, this way they can install and drive and so can you. if you sell it to a person with a 2005 and up you can reinstall your C-clips and reinstall your axle just as stock ,, now all you need to do is call Rob at Needswings he has instructions on how to get the differential sent in and back to you with the Wavetrac installed in it, find a mechanic that can do the install or do it yourself , call Needswings for prices.
Call Rob for any info you may need on this. jim

FYI, my '04 is build number 4x006237 and it has one piece axles, no bolts.

jim he is saying he DOESNT have the bolt in axles on his 04.

i think everyone should also be aware that theres still over 20 units that have to be built for the g/b before any are sold outside the g/b. (at least they should build ours first). mine has been in cali since fri. and im still waiting for a call to tell me its done and make the final payment

I am not in the immediate market for this diff, I am just trying to offer up info for future reference to help others. Take a look at my '04.

james i think you hit the nail on the head. instead of going by yr and model just climb under the car and look. if its like yours no mods. if theres a flange with bolts the stub needs machining

What's the usual downtime, say about a week? Taking it off, sending it to Needswings, getting it back and reinstalling.

I just came across this post and sorry to revive it a half a year later but I just went out and slid under the car to see if I had the flange you mentioned. My build date is 04/03 last 6 of vin is 000135 and mine is exactly like the pic James took. So that means if I were to order one that it would only be a matter of putting it in right? I dont need to ship my diff anywhere?

you are kinda right ,,if you buy your wavetrac through Needswings and want to be sure of the warrenty just incase the factory says it was installed wrong ,,,again if something happened to it. (he has a cheaper price) he would tell you where to ship it too,

mine was done by Needswings/and wavetrac builder and i am running a V8 i really don't think anyone will have a problem with the wavetrac unless it is installed wrong,,,not tring to scare you buy they do do a good job.

now if you have a GOOD mechanic or can do it yourself then yes,,buy thruoghl Needswings,, and install yourself. jim

I wish you guys were closer. We can do the whole setup in a day. $400 out the door for install only. You supply the parts. If we had more, the price could be lower, but we have to shut the shop down in order to go thru the whole process uninterupted and get you on the road the same day.

this on my list but starting from the key with a 55K ECU and Turbo is coming first along with a trans and diff. I hope to have all this done before the next fall Dragon. I looked under my car and do not have the bolt on axles. My '04 was built 01/04

That is too bad. That's a good price. I figure if needswings has got a real good set of instructions I should be fine.

if your in cali then have unitrax do it. 225$ is the install price. drop it off and save the shipping. they are the direct distributor for the wavetrac and do these diffs in 24 hrs.
