You've obviously never driven the road to Hana on Maui. Makes the Dragon look like a kiddie ride. Plus, the 100+ plus drop to the ocean on some of the curves without guardrails ups the ante a bunch.

 

While I have never been on this road, have you traveled the Dragon? If you are impressed by 100+ foot drops, the Dragon has 200-300 foot drops and no guardrails anywhere, an occasional bail of hay so the motorcycle guys don't fly over the edge if they dump it. It is consistently on the list of best roads in the WORLD, I have never seen anything in Hawaii on the list

 

Excuse my error. I omitted one zero. The road is 1000' (one thousand feet) up on the side of a mountain.

I haven't driven the Tail of the Dragon, so I am being somewhat subjective in my comments. However, the phyical comparisons do speak for themselves. The Hana Road is 52 miles of 617 hairpin curves with 59 bridges, 46 of which are one way and as memory serves, most of the bridges are on blind curves. The roadway is always wet from frequent rain and the numerous waterfalls that fall on the cliff side, and roadway shifts are common.


As for being the "Best road in the world". I would not put the Hana in that mix. Hazardous, YES, best (for touring), BIG NO....

Place sounds amazing, but to call the Dragon a kiddie ride is a gut wrencher for many of us here who travel there twice a year to try and tame her, last time I was there, I did not get to bring my car home

52 miles and 617 hairpins is amazing, but the Dragon gets 318 in 11 miles, so it is as fast and intense as can be....

 

I shouldn't have made a comparasion like I did. I certainly don't believe the Dragon is anything like a kiddie ride, and going over a cliff at 300' is going to hurt as much as 1000'. I have no idea how much opposing traffic there is either, but I'd suppose there are plenty of foolish drivers/riders to contend with.

MikeR has done his interior in blue to match the car...I really like that idea...but, like the others, it's your ride...do what pleases you...you have to ride in it everyday...the interior, the radio, really doesn't matter to me at all, as I just like to go fast...so my $$$$ are spent on HP....only real body mods have been the grilles...people like them, people hate them...just a fact of life....I like them, or I wouldn't have done them...enjoy the car...

The motorcycle guys are the craziest. Nothing like getting passed on the outside in a blind turn by a guy in a bike when we are both essentially tripling the local speed limits

Now the titanium burl, that looks classy, in my humble opinion.

 

That Burl wood does look good. I was thinking of Red/Black carbon fiber, but that Burl wood looks great.

 

Old thread.....about interior modding.....I need a third car to just strip to the bare bones... roll cage, a few gauges, racing seats and a 6 way harness...now that is an interior....
