76,000 were built and sold worldwide.
The article said "with about 50,000 still operating in the US."
Atrition is not that severe.
But Simmie777 is correct. Insurance companies total this thing like it was an Edsel.

These are supposed to be the # of cars built in each "respective" year.

2004.....28,000
2005.....12,500
2006.......4,805

If we use 2007 as a guide, it was probably 2000, or less...

[quote-caddymike85]I think all those numbers are off by one year because there was also no model year 2003.[/quote]
You cannot make all cars in their model year, some are made the previous year, and the remainder in the model year up until tooling changes for the next model year.
You can probably go out now and buy a 2012 model car somewhere.

Re: Only 50,000 crossfires left?
I think I've asked this before & if anyone answered...I don't remember.....
Do the vehicles that went somewhere besides the USA have VINs within this 76,048 sequence?
I was under the impression they did & that out of the 76,048....about 50,000 were brought into the USA.....

I just posted up what I found on the internet at several locations.
As Chris L pointed out, has anybody seen a higher VIN? I don't have a clue where they came up with these #'s. For example, my 2004 Crossfire's production is 19280. It was built in Jan of 04. and that's 16,420 less than they said were built in 2003. So the #'s being posted by Wikipedia (and elsewhere) aren't accurate. Sorry I did a search and posted what I found.
Didn't mean to besmirch your post. What was "I" thinking?
