Default ANOTHER NEW CROSSFIRE OWNER..

Hello everyone! I have been reading this forum for the last couple of months. I will try to answer all the appropriate questions everyone is interested in knowing about newbees.. . First of all, my name is Doug, I live in McQueeney, Texas ( just outside of San Antonio, Tx.), and yes, I know the Spurs lost last night to the Lakers. I purchased my Graphite XFIRE on 3-20-04, built number is 12,948, it was purchased through a Five Star Dealer in New Braunfels, Texas and they have bent over backwards for me when I have gone in for TSB's. (Although, I hated the small sub-compact Ford car I was given to drive   . It was a piece of crap and they promised me next time they (Dealer) would provide me with an upgrade at no additional cost to me. ) The car has gone in twice for repairs. . First time for wind noise, not completely satisfied, but not as noisy as prior. Second time was the windshield washer fuild motor did not work. Wouldn't squirt washerfuild onto the windshield. When it was in the shop, the tech went ahead looked up all the TSB's and repaired (I think 5 items). I was happy.. Here again they took care of me. I gave up a '99 BMW 528i for the XFIRE. I also own a '04 Dodge 4x4 Quad cab, diesel truck. This is my everyday driver.. I also enjoy riding motorcycles, I current own a '02 FLSTF HD (Fatboy), a '01 BMW Dakar F650GS and a Yamaha 250F.

At this time I haven't done any upgrades to the XFIRE, it only has 2000 miles on it, I would love to put a chip in it, tent the windows and add the lambo doors. I am still unsure how ya'll (yes ya'll, I am from Texas) do the lunch starts. Do you just depress the brake lever with the left foot, give it gas with the right foot until the rpm's are up around 2k and then let go of the brake???? :? .

Prior to purchasing the XFIRE, I test drove the 350Z, RX8, G35 and Z4. You know which I picked... If I had to rate the cars in order.. My pick 1. XFIRE, 2. Z4, 3. G35, 4. RX8 and then the 350Z last.
Ok, this is enough for my first time, if anyone has anyother questions of me, I will try to answer them. I have enjoyed reading everyones messages and I will try to get some pics up soon....

Good to see we have another Crossfire owner in Texas

As for launching the auto, turn traction control off, hold the brake and give it gas. Once the RPM's tach up let off the brake and go full on the gas

Thanks for the reply. I will have to try it later. I was reading earlier about how one of the tech's informed the dad to tell his son to quit doing burn outs. I must not know how to give it gas, because I can't get my fire to do a burn out unless I put water under the tires first.

PS. I didn't purchase my car for speed, I know there are numerous other cars out there that will out run it, be more comfortable, bigger, smaller and all that other comparisions that has been discussed. I purchased it because I LIKED IT AND IT WAS DIFFERENT.. (I also owned a D90, '97 Landrover Defender 90). Like I said, I like being different... I like having something others don't have or very few people have... and yes the XFIRE is an attention getter......

Ya have to disable the Traction Control. It won't (or at least shouldn't) spin the tires if TC is on.

yes, welcome fellow texan. there's actually quite a few here.

for those who don't know, doug lives in an area we call "the hill country" and it's just a perfect area for a crossfire. not at all what most people think of when you say texas.

you're wrong though..................The Spurs didn't lose last night. But I could go on forever why they didn't. Hope to see you driving on I-10 sometime.
