Default Uh Oh. WTF is going here. The alarm won't turn off!

Well, have had my Xfire for six years since new. Never had a single problem really that was major. Now besides the squeak, my factory alarm will go off for no reason. And it has never gone off before. MAN IS THIS THING EAR PIERCING! I mean its literally ear drum bleeding sound. It won't turn off. It just goes off randomly, then turns off by itself regardless of what I do with the key fob.

In fact it just did it right now. Goes off for about five minutes of ear shattering shreiking, then goes off and doesn't do it again till the next day around the same time.

WTF?

Have you had the same battery for those six years (white top)?

If so, it's time for a new one, and there's a very high chance that's your problem.

Otherwise, people have also had problems with the battery cables corroding.

I had the battery replaced under warranty three years ago.

As he said.... check the cables... they sometimes corrode INSIDE where it is hard to detect... Did you check the voltage on the battery? Load test it? Never hurts to do the simple things to rule out the simple things.....

It could also be the SKREEM module.....that would be bad news...

Which is??
Is that the module that reads your key fob?

When mine did this back in late '06 I think... it was the module that receives a transmission from the key fob telling the car that it's the right key in the ignition. I'm glad it was under warranty as it was nearer to $3,000 when all was said and done... not including the loaner car which I had for 6 month for.

Alarm problems are enough to make you SKREEM.

$3,000????!!!!!

WTF? Well if its that then I'll just cut the alarm horn out completely. No way I'm going to pay that. I have 50k miles, am I still under warranty? I bought new in June 05.

I love this car but if it starts giving me problems its going bye bye. Which would be a shame since I like this car more than any other I've owned.

F**K

Mayaman,

if it is the SKREEM module (siren/alarm), mounted on the firewall, passenger side, it can be bought for ~$300 and there is a thread about this. You need a security Torx driver to remove it.
Search for alarm problems. And "Cricket on Crack". The newer part # will get you three "chirps" when you lock the car. For free!

After reading several threads I'm completely and utterly confused. Skreem? Siren? Tear apart dash? Replace siren under cowl?

So far there seems to be two camps.

1. Get siren, replace under cowl, be happy.

2. Take to dealer, order skreem, have dealer F it up, replace dashboard poorly, have squeaking piece of junk car.

Which is it? Please help.

Thanks.

I had the same problem a few months ago out of the blue the alarm went off and nothing i mean nothing i did fixed it. So then i pulled the fuse for it the only inconvenience I have had so far is the interior lighting. Thinking back to when i got the car this fuse was removed and I replaced it right after so for the past 3 years it has given me no problems till now but the previous owner must have had problems.

anyone with a part number? Can I change this myself? I really don't want the dealer messing up any more things.

also, now half my instrument cluster is dimmed out. The dimming **** only lights half my cluster. So now my instruments are only half lit.

What the h3ll is going on here?

IF YOU WANT YOUR CAR TO CHIRP, REPLACE YOUR SIREN WITH PART#5124443AA.
Again, IF YOU WANT YOUR CAR TO CHIRP, REPLACE YOUR SIREN WITH PART#5124443AA.

I gave this # to my Chrysler dealer service guy and he had no problem getting it for me.

The "A" number is:

A 171 820 25 20

This is the SKREEM/Siren module. Mounted on the firewall. A security Torx bit is needed to remove/replace it.

Yes, I read the thread. Mine did the same thing. And the Panic buttons didn't work. It was traced to the SKREEM.

The dealer told you it was this module, didn't he? You asked for the part number, didn't you? I'm just trying to help, man.

The other possibility is the central pneumatic locking system in the trunk. Do all of your locks work properly?

Sorry I misunderstood. Did you replace it yourself?

Question Re: Uh Oh. WTF is going here. The alarm won't turn off!

maxcichon, I thought the skreem module was behind the instrument cluster, and the siren was a different part under the cowl... I got the chirping siren for my car and installed it under the cowl behind the firewall in the engine compartment. I am pretty sure the skreem module is not the siren, but maybe I am in error of this...

Maybe I'm wrong? I had the module pictured installed by the dealer in a couple of hours. Warranty. He called it a SKREEM. And I had to show him a print out of this post.

Sorry to all!
