I noticed this one some time ago, you don't have to listen as much to it at a light.

I knew the first day I got my XF, because it rains 364days/year here.

The car has to have been turned off for a while - at least 5 minutes. Then turn the key to the on position (without starting it) and wait until you see the oil can appear in your trip odometer (and a clock or something in the odometer). Then hit the button on the left and it will either say OK (which looks really weird), or, if it;s low, it will say how much it's low - 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 or 2.5

If you manually lower your spoiler, it stops in three different spots - there is nothing wrong with the motor - this is a safety feature - if anyone has their hand underneath - they have a chance to remove it safetly! (Sounds a bit like overkill, but in our litigious society, a company has to be so careful....)

If you're moving when you manually lower it (by pressing the button) it will go down smoothly.

I prefer to lower it as I'm approaching my driveway, rather than when i'm parked in it, for this exact reason.

I'm kinda new to this forum and a new Xfire owner...where was this thread? That chime gets annoying when I'm just making a quick run up the block.

From our friend Thomas Whyle...

"The correct procedure for the Crossfire is as follows: 1)Turn key to ON/START - within 60 seconds, turn ignition OFF and fasten the driver seat belt. 2)Start engine and wait for the seat belt light to turn off. 3)Within 60 seconds unbuckle/rebuckle the seat belt 3 times - ending with buckled. 4)Turn the engine OFF and wait to hear a single chime. (This confirms you have turned the repeater chimes off. Repeat the sequence or disconnect the battery to restore the reminder function.)"

It works, trust me

Didn't know that one! And will do.......there are times at GTG's and your parking on a lawn for show...or moving the car a very short distance at low speeds and have no need for an annoying seatbelt indicator. If on the other hand you are prone to driving without buckling up, then you deserve every annoying indicator there is!

Last time I posted this I caught some heat, everyone telling me I need to wear my seatbelt and such. While it is no one's business whatsoever, I do wear my seatbelt and it has saved my life a few times, but when I am in the drive thru at a bank and I need to get my wallet out of my back pocket, I have to release the seatbelt and hearing it for the next 1-2 minutes is not my idea of fun, so this technique is invaluable....

It's rare that I sit in my car while it's on without my seatbelt buckled...but usually the little alarm only goes off once I start driving.

I've taken my seatbelt off while my car coasted about 100 yds in neutral as I come up to my friend's gated community and the alarm didn't go off. Only once I got back in and proceeded to drive through the open gate did it go off.

Is that unusual?

Thank you so much for posting this BoilerUp, for short trips that stupid chime is endlessly annoying. I find it amazing that our cars are more annoying about the seat belt not being on than my wife's Honda Civic.

This is not the normal function of the chime. If the car is on and the seatbelt is not fastened (even if in nuetral in the manual, with the parking brake raised) it will still sound...

Sometime in the fifties, My grandma read a statistic in Readers Digest that most accidents occur withing 25 miles of our homes. Ignoring the significance of this stat she determined that after 25 miles we could take them off.
This proceedure could allow me to do that again?

Cool.

I know, somewhere in my circulatory system, some of those same genes are hiding, just waiting to come out.

So the other day i washed our car in the driveway, and figured i could clean out the inside of the fuel door. It would not open so i played with it a little bit trying to open it. I thought it broke. Little did i know when i unlocked the car it popped right open. So now i understand that if the car is off and locked the fuel door locks. Great feature!

Edit: I also felt like an idiot.

It's even better when you are pumping gas, decide you want to run inside for something after you're done pumping the gas, so you hit the fob to lock the doors. Done pumping the gas, you try to close the gas door and discover you can't. Much confusion and swearing later, you hit the fob to unlock the doors, close the gas door, THEN lock the doors.
