Default rear hatch

Ok, I know it's been mentioned before but I can't find it in search. I have a rattle at the back of the car on the inside. I think it's the rear hatch. What has to be done to fix the problem. I go to search and type in rear hatch rattle and over 300 results come back but none of the threads have anything to do with the rear hatch. Anyone know what should be done? thanks.

There are two rubber stops on the hatch... one on each side that you can adjust.

I had the same problem and was just about to take it to the dealer when I discovered the thread. I adjusted the rubber stops and the rattle disappeared. It takes a little more effort to close the hatch now but the rattle is gone.

 We actually took our car in for this problem a couple of months ago. I printed all the posts about it and gave it to the service writer. They were changing our radio out at the same time. Long story short - they had the car 2 hours (while we sat there waiting). They did change the radio and told us the rattle was gone. Of course, it wasn't. We finally, last week, got the right "star" tool and fixed it. Sure don't miss that rattle!! So much for our 5 Star Dealer knowing how to fix something so simple. As someone else said on a different thread ..... I'm scared to death to take CEE BEE in for her first oil change

I had a mysterious rattle coming from the rear. I thought it was the hatch but it turned out to be the flat kit stuff rattling. My service people repacked the pump and spray can and the rattle went away.

I've been trying to fix mine. What direction are we supposed to adjust the rubber stoppers? Or is it merely trial and error?

adjust the rubber stop to it's lowest position (away from the hatch) for the fix.

you usually only want them to come out enough so that tha hacth pops a little when you open it with the handle.. I pulled them out so far on my suv that I could not close it without slamming it hard (too far out)

Initially I believe that is how my car came from the factory. I had adjusted it in the other direction and no change. Today I put it back like you suggested and I still hear something back there after hitting certain bumps. Maybe its a spring or the spoiler?

I was having the same rattle described which started after taking it in for service. They may have adjusted the hatch stops anticipating a problem or maybe it was just a coincidence. After reading these comments, I checked and they were all the way out and the bolts looked they had been adjusted. But I loosened them, made sure they were fully extended and changed the angle slightly. After a couple of tries, the rattle disappeared! Must be a very sensitive alignment...

This forum is great! I started to notice a rattle coming from the rear end about a 2 weeks ago. Either I was more aware of it or it was getting worse. It took less than a minute to lower the hatch stops. No more rattle!!!
