Default Won't start - wimpy foot

My '05 Coupe wouldn't start today. All electronics seemed OK, but no cranking. I figured it had to be the Relay Control Module (RCM), but maybe not. I don't know! Anyhow, I was bummed out, so I called AAA for a tow truck. He gets there and says it looks like I didn't push the clutch in hard enough! Maybe it needs an adjustment. Maybe I should lift weights!

We'll see what happens in the future. But for now -- it was kind of embarrassing!

Man, that would be embarrassing. How long did you sit? Was AAA understanding? Must have made you feel like a silly teen-aged girl.

All kidding aside, and assuming she shifts just fine, sounds like a limit switch problem with minor adjustment as the answer. Got warranty?

Feel like a teen age girl is right! It was right in front of my house! At least that made it E-Z. Only waited 45 minutes. I knew the AAA guy because he's bailed me out a few times with my other cars. Been stick-shifting since 1967. I don't think I need any more practice, but..... No warranty, but the local mech is good. I'll be paying him a visit.

I've also noticed on my manual that I have to have the clutch fully engaged, that means the pedal way down, to engage the starter.

I've been drivin a stick for ages, and my mind is so conditioned to engaging the clutch, before turning the key, that it's pathetic.

When the weather thaws, I'm tempted to hunt down that switch, and permenantly jump out the wires.

I don't need no stinking limit switch to know how to start a car with a manual tranny...lol...

Done it myself in the Dodge truck. But I didn't call AAA. Just removed the paper coffeee cup.

I am in the habit of turning the key and then pushing the clutch in til the starter engages. Seems towork no matter what shoes, boots or boondockers I'm wearing.
Now my tractor has no clutch switch. The starter button is on the floor by the tranny. Something which can be a real surprise if you step in the wrong place when filling the gas tank.

It's probably too late to change your forum handle from 6000rpm to Wimpy Foot, but you can check with the moderator.

A woman who lived behind my mother in law in the early seventies started her manual tranny car and it was in gear. My mother in law heard a bang and saw the surprised woman was sitting on her back lawn having punched a hole through the back of her garage.
The garage floor was at least a foot or so above the lawn, so it must have looked like a Thelma and Louise shot as she come through the wall.
It was tough getting the car back into the garage, as the way back in was the way it had come out.
Moral - keep the switch.

I did not know this would work this way.

I've been engaging the clutch first for so many years, it never dawned on me to first turn the key, then push down on the clutch for a start.

Your never too old to learn something...lol...

I have always done it this way.

Been driving sticks since I was 8 years old. Easier to turn the key and then reach down with your wimpy foot and push until something happens.

I have always done it this way, not becuase I was particularly smart. Because it was the only way I could do it.

So at 12, even though I was bigger, I was apparently to old to learn a NEW way
Been doing it wrong ever since.

Real trucks have dually wheels, manual transmissions, and say Cummins on the side.
