+1

While they are both nice cars the Mustang just begs for you to drive it.

[quote=Thirteendog]You know they are called accidents for a reason.
Mark a 17 year old driver is just as experienced as a 26 year old driver that started driving at 25. I think our country has become a little to lawsuit happy. [quote]
The police around here have stopped using the word 'accident' as they say crashes are not accidents. A tree falling on your car is an accident, hitting another car with yours is not an accident as someone is at fault somewhere.
In this case the kid was wrongly on the other side of the road, he was not there by accident. Even if he slid there on ice it is his fault as he should have been in control of his vehicle.

I have just personally seen a case of bad judgment by a 17 year old. He had his mothers car and went out of his way by ten miles to pick up a friend to take to school.
In his rush he overtook a fuel oil truck on a snow covered side road and ended up in the ditch with $5,000 damage to the car. My wife had told him days before not to go on the side roads freshly covered in snow. Both kids were late for school of course.
The mothers car insurance told her they would not cover him to drive the car again. Her insurance will go up, they would insure him alone at a cost near $6,000 with no collision on his car. In other words 'we really do not need your business'. This will remain on his record for some time now and cost him dearly.
The kid was lucky, the truck driver said he would have to go as he did not have the license to drive that truck, the police came and it was listed as a single vehicle accident. Had the cops known he was overtaking a truck he would have been hit with a careless driving charge I'm sure.

A question, tho: How do you explain your spoiler being deployed? Do you always run with the wing up?
Yea, I always drove my Crossfire with the spoiler deployed.

I'm hoping that I'll be able to transfer the license plate to my next car.

One of my stepgrands who had to learn to drive at 15 to get to/from cancer care has never had a wreck.

The others have had friends die in wrecks and/or been tagged themselves by other teen drivers.

No at fault accidents for any of them.

So many of us have done such a good job protecting our kids from consequences, they don't know what to do when they face them. Unfortunately, neither do the parents

Thankful your not hurt physically!
You shouldn't have to pay a lawyer, The parents of the 17 year old and their insurance company should and most likely will, if you choose to go that route. I was broadsided by a 15 year old runaway in her dad's car years ago. Her fathers insurance company tried to make a lowball offer that wouldn't even pay for a Jeep 5 years older than mine! I hired a lawyer and it never cost me a cent. He got them to settle for what I wanted. The replacement cost of my Jeep based on local asking prices of similar Jeeps of the same year and model. Also,The lawyers fees paid in full. I could have gotten more, he said, But I figured it would come back on me in a bad way if I went after more than I'd really lost.

As a truck driver, I can tell you all that it's terrifying just how many people I see every night staring at their phones and trying to hold the wheel with their knees or elbows. Even worse at 2am when the bars close and they're drunk texting AND driving!

Come on over to Texas if your lookin for an SRT-6 Chris! There are several of them for sale in the Dallas area and many more throughout the state. Some dealers (I've heard) will even discount your airfare from the price of the car if you ask them too. Texas is the home of the low price SRT-6! Bonham Chrysler has about a half dozen of them they're trying to move! I promise you, it'll be the best ride home you ever had!

Good post 180. There are no such things as accidents involving two or more people. It is called negligence. Gross or petty, but still negligence and good of your police to recognize that little subtlty. The "accidents" are a culmination of alot of little choices made along the way by both parties, resulting in the intersection of a point in time.

Chris,

Sorry to hear about the wreck but glad to hear that you're okay.

Keep us updated on what you're next ride is. I, too, am looking at moving on from my 04 Alabaster Crossfire to a 2011 Chevy Camaro (White/Silver Synergy Series) . If your interested in having another crossie, give me a pm. I'd be willing to work with you come June for a reasonable price. It has 62K on the odo but will try to negotiate a price that works for us.

These are hard cars to part with thats for sure... I'm still getting compliments on this vehicle.

I can't remember the last time I even saw a Crossfire for sale near me, they don't seem that easy to come by.

YOU DONT NEED MONEY!!!

Get a junk yard dog lawyer, I have one, he takes 30% and I have TIPPED HIM !!!!!

YOU should own them, and get enough for a BLACK srt. Go to a lawyer and ask him who he would recommend as I have done. Use the lawyer as your hired gun and on consignment, no out of pocket $$$$.

WOODY A good lawyer does not cost , He earns his money.............

Considering the damage done to the Crossfire, it wouldn't surprise me...and that road is a 25 mph zone.

Yea, it is. I was so tempted, once the kid's parents got there, to take them to the back of my car, point at the plate and say "Have your son read my plate, then do what it says."

Lets see, how do I begin. Here is a good place to start: I'm glad you were alive to post this. My brother just recently passed away (He committed suicide after getting into a wreck with our beloved jaguar.) So I really am happy to see you with us still, and hopefully not to discouraged by this.
Second part is this: Thats great, you were going 25, but other guy obviously wasn't. Because you were in a Mercedes, you lived this. Because you were in a Mercedes, the windshield didn't shatter. Because you were in a Mercedes, I can reply to you right now.
I am over-reacting, but this could have gone so much worse if you weren't in a quality vehicle. I'm happy to be replying to you right now.

I fail to see how an accident caused by mechanical failure could be likened to someone DRIVING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ALMOST KILLING SOMEONE

The cops were on scene and investigated my accident and I recieved no ticket for any wrong doing.
