2 x 74mm throttle bodys plug-n-play for $100 ea. @ eBay
Re: 2 x 74mm throttlebodys plug-n-play for $100 ea. @ eBay
The electronics cannot be swapped. The connector on the 025 is built into the unit. The connector on our original is built onto the cover. The cover of ours will not fit the 025. I am sure one could cut the connector off of the original cover, wire it in and silicone the heck out of it to seal it, but why rig something to that extent? The only thing I can think is that there is a part # A1131410025 that has a body like ours, with a cover like ours but with a different connector, and there is another like the ones we have in hand. When I was modding Volkswagens I saw parts manufactured by the same manufacturer be completly different, but have the same part number and application. Perhaps that is what is going on here. If the 025 I have in hand was the same casting as my original, but with a bigger bore, I could swap out the plastic cover with my connector on it. Look at the pictures on the above posts at the differences. There is nothing to swap to connect it to a wiring harness.

guys, I'm told this can be done, but it is not easy. Go to search and look up " throttle body modification" . Fellow owners ,roompart, MikeR and onehundred80 have done this ,I think. It does require drilling and maybe some machining to accomplish. I'm not going to try it because I don't have the equipment anymore, but if you have a drill press you may be able to do it. Let me know if you attempt and how it turns out.

I have just purchased one of the plug and plays on eBay.
Rudy (Rcompart) has explained what is to be done, it's not too easy but....

@onehundred80 Have you installed it? How does it feel? Difference?
I've been looking at junkyards trying to find one with no luck in WA. I did find them in other states if anyone there wants to get'em.
Just remember to make sure it's part A1131410125 and not mislabel by these companies.

Of topic but why 145$ and not $145 ?
Just asking, call me confused but it just looks wrong. It's never shown like this in any article in the media.
There is probably a rule somewhere.

robjob941,
I got stuck with a TB I can't use, but I'm not going to blame anyone else. I should have done more checking before I bought it. It's not the company's fault where I bought it. I'm sure those that suggested buying these thought it was a slam dunk. I can see how you would feel, several members were pretty confident that it could be done simply. No one mislead you on purpose. The TB # A1131410125 is a direct fit from all that I can find, I'm still looking to find one. I'm very sorry that you had such a problem. When I got mine and started looking at it, I was confused about it too. Again sorry you had such a big problem.

Where did the wrong number come from? The thread started out with the correct #A113 141 0125 and ended up with #A113 141 0025 being purchased.
The wrong part is mentioned in many threads and noted as being a problem, albeit a seemingly solvable problem.
If you were sold the wrong part and you ordered the correct part then change it if you can.

When i saw the thread I thought it said that either one would work, but one require you to change the electronics from your existing TB to the 0025 TB to make it work, the 0125 TB worked with out doing anything but installing it. From what i was seeing or thought I was seeing either one would work, but one was eaisier to do.

the $ dollar sign dillema is because i was using my phone and it automaticaly writes numbers like that....wierd huh?
Dtinker: im mad because the wrong part was assured that it would work. the supposed "switching of the electronics being so simple" yet i never recieved any help or replys the numerous times i asked. Dave as a man and an American i will not put my name on something or suggest it unless i swear by it. Its no ones fault i guess some people live their lives by a lesser moral code and thats their problem.

That's strange, now I know. Thanks.
The part, or is it actually another part, has long been rumored to be modifiable to work.
Perhaps it was a myth, Rudy mentions that he has a box of scrapped ones ruined in the attempt.
I was under the understanding that it was tricky but possible. Live and learn I guess.

Re: 2 x 74mm throttle bodys plug-n-play for $100 ea. @ eBay
onehundred80,
The seller was not at fault with my order. I read or thought I read that either TB would work, just one was easier than the other. The TB's that they had ,I think 10 pcs., were the one that required more work, the 0025. I bought and they sold me exactly what I asked for. By what I read it could be converted by doing a minor switch of the electronics and connector. From what I read, this was easy to do and had been done before. Sounded logical, so I bought one. After trying to disassemble the one I bought I realized this was not something that was easy to do and I posted that comment. I still thought it was possible, but knew that I was not going to do it or attempt it and posted that as well. All I wanted was a 74mm TB that would fit my XF, I got what I ordered, but it does not fit. I asked a lot of questions about how this was done and got responses about it had to be machined and drilled, etc. I caulk it up to my stupidity in being too accepting, I thought the responders knew more than me about the subject, I don't think they did. Again, I'm sorry that anyone had trouble, but I'm in the same boat they are in, maybe not to the same cost in dollars, but it really upset me that we all got the wrong part because we believed what we were told. You know that word " Assumed", when you hear that come up, run, because something is not right. I think I was probably the first one to raise the idea that something was not correct about the TB we bought. I certainly hope that no one blames me for the problem. I'm in the same boat.

It would be interesting to get to the bottom of the mystery of it being possible or not.
If it was a DIY post would save a lot of trouble and if it wasn't possible save a lot of money.
Re: 2 x 74mm throttle bodys plug-n-play for $100 ea. @ eBay
I am not trying to **** anyone off, just asking a question for the sake of asking a question...
Are you guys so heavily modded that you require changing out the TB? That would be one of the last thing I would attempt, and to my knowledge, no one has produced any evidence that it actually increases power. There are quite a few mods that are dyno proven to give results and have detailed install instructions.
The other thing to consider, and again, I am not trying to knock anyone, it is all relative. What one person thinks is easy may be nearly impossible for another. Some people on here could take apart the motor and reassemble it in the dark, while others can not even change a headlight bulb.....

Will I notice any improvement? I hope some discernible difference will be seen, we'll see.
Fingers crossed anyway.
These are the only mods I see in my future.
