Default Spin-Caps Valve Caps

I tried to find the thread that first mentioned Spin-Caps valve caps, but with no success. Thanks to whoever did it. In any event they are billet aluminum valve caps that are put on with a "key" so that the outside spins and will not allow one without a key to screw off the valve cap. They look nice, come in several styles and color striping, and of course, help prevent tampering with the tire air valve. They are available at http://www.spin-caps.com . They come with two keys and are presently on sale. Following are a couple of pictures of the "tri-cut" caps with no coloring.

They look nice, but wouldn't using those disable the TPM system (since transmitters are in the vavlestem caps?)??? With no spare and no run-flat rubber, TPM is all we've got :!:

David, if those transmitters are actually in the valve caps, it must be nanotechnology. The stock valve caps are just regular valve caps so far as I can see. Take one off and examine it. I've read that the transmitters are related to the valve stem, but I've presumed they are on the bottom part of the stem inside the tire.

Perhaps someone can enlighten us.

David,

If I'm not mistaken, one of the techs here said on another thread the same thing about the transmitters or whatever are in the valve stem, not the caps.

Those Alabaster fumes are acting up again...

Yes... A recap on my previous post:

The only special thing about the valve caps is that they have an o-ring to seal the sensor from moisture. As the picture above shows, these caps appear to have o-rings also.

I like the look of these caps.. May get a set for my car!

Sensor is in valve stem, not cap.

Why are you worried about someone draining the air out of your tires? I've never heard of anyone doing such a thing. Is it that or are you worried someone might take them?

Don't you think that will be somewhat annoying trying to fill up the air in your tires. You now need to find that little key thing to unlock your valve stem caps?

They look nice but just seems a bit annoying.

DFWSBR:

I think the problem may be more with people stealing the metal caps that are on the vehicle to begin with.

We have already had this problem on several vehicles (not just CF). Customers come in with all 4 valve caps missing- not even aware that someone has helped themselves to them in some instances. These smart looking caps would save you that aggravation!

Where do you guys park? I've lived in Dallas for 3 years and never had a problem. Drove in chicago for over 5 years and same results.

Are you sure you screwed them back on after putting air in the tires?

If you can believe this - we were having our taxes done - the car was parked in front of our tax persons house - we were watching out the window and caught the two kids stealing them!!! Nice neighborhood - don't know what they were going to do with them.

I had my valve caps stolen once 3 times within one week! Usually just punk kids. Now I have mine hooked up to 50,000 volts, so I'm just hoping some kid tries to take mine...AHAHAHAHA....AHAHAHAHA!

Default valve stem caps

someone wanted to celebrate my first 1000 miles by stealing all 4 valve caps.
i have only had my c f for 20 days, the first time i had parked in a public car park,
parked on the line taking 2 spaces up so no one would dent my doors by parking close 8) but those little dust caps must be fetching top doller (or pounds over here in the uk)
or some kid has got them on his bike!

I've known people who will mess with your car *because* you take up two spaces with it. You can't win.

Probably a short show...a truly electrifying experience tho.
Thanks for the tip on the caps, placed my order yesterday. Am hoping the O-ring will work to keep the moisture out of the TPM. Had a 2 PSI loss from the back tire and it lit up.
