Default Totalled...the end of an era.

Well, my heart is broken. Was hit today by an ******* speeding and who ran a red light in NE Washington, DC. Then hit from behind by someone else. Pretty sure the car is a loss...also pretty sure the frame is bent. Console is shifted a few inches to the driver's side. Pass. door jammed open. passenger side wheel bent inward etc.etc.etc.

Not looking for anything in particular from this post. Just venting.

All that matters is that you're OK.

Sorry to hear about the car. Do you think you'll get another Crossfire if your insurance writes this one off as totalled?

On another good note you didn't cause the accident so it's not on you for all this damage. Glad to hear your ok cars can be replaced and repaired It's a tad bit harder for human bones and lives. So I hope everything works out for you!

The car can be replaced, you can't! I am SURE that car is totalled - you can't fix it for what they are selling for, you know.

So, what car are you looking for and we'll start searching for you as well!

Color? Auto/Stick? Mileage and price? Let us know - the team is "on it" for John, we can help you find one, too.

Of course, if you even THINK you are injured - don't sign nothin!

Thanks guys. Im sitting here waiting for State Farm to call me. My hand is bandaged and I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself. lol. yeah, it was a cut and dry thing. The guy admitted he was going to fast and ran the light. I'm just very nervous as to what kind of $$$ im going to get...That is the question. In regards to whether I get another XF, more than likely. Possibly Alabaster, but I do love SSB. I will say that I am going to check out Prowlers (dream #2 after the XF). I'll keep everyone posted as to what happens. Heading back to DC tomorrow to the tow yard to clean out the car and remove tags.

State Farm was good to Deb Walker when her car was totaled - and State Farm was the other guy's insurance.

hey Mike sorry this happened. with the bags popped and the front and rear damage I'd bet its a total loss. Make sure they give you tax and tags as well, that's how we settle a total auto loss. Additionally if you were hurt there should be a personal injury settlement. You turned in through your company? The guy who ran the light is at fault, they may go after the person who ran into the back of you as well. So you may get a bit more out of this than you had planned. State Farm will charge you your collision deductible but they will try and get it back from both parties. If you don't want that to happen I'd suggest going through BOTH other carriers. They would also have to provide you a rental car. Please call me before you settle, I'll pm you my cell number.

Damn.. I'm sorry to see that. I hate to say it, but my red '05 looked a little better when they totaled it. Similar situation too, a younger kid blew a stop sign and hit me in the same spot.

Glad you're OK...By the looks of it, the accident was pretty serious (but could have been worse.)

Is it just me, or are a lot of XF's getting run into lately? Just look at the first page here in this section. I think there's 3 people that have lost XF's now to people totaling.

Well... another one bites the dust. Like the others said, it can be replaced. Good thing these cars are built solid.

S40
Glad you are safe. Shows that our cars where well built. Hopefully you will see an Alabaster or SSB that catches your eye and is the right price. Saw a similar accident happen right in front of the office today. Both vehicles lost a wheel, it was pretty scary. Looked like the guy who was at fault soiled himself.

Again, thanks guys. I will admit that I am extremely impressed with the solidity of the XF. Instead of a BOOM! and a crunch it was more of a thud and a jolt. Almost "soft"? No doubt these cars are small but mighty.

Glad you're OK!!

What does it feel like to have an airbag go off in your face?? Is it loud?

If there were 50,000 brought into the states, based upon the # reported totaled on this forum/# members....I'm guessing we're down to about 48,000 left in the USA.

He's GOT to tell the story... it's the best example yet that I know of, where a Crossfire Coupe saved the driver's life.
