I finally made the leap
Re: I finally made the leap
Ya know, just when you think that you know someone (Gene and I have been friends since 4th. grade) they go out and pull a 180 on ya.
This guy has been my biggest drag racing nemesis (from way back when) 1 st. with a real sleeper 67 Mustang 390 GTA, then later with a 70 Mach I with a 351 Cleveland. We spent nearly every weekend at Quaker City, or Drag Way 42 during the summer of 1971, and more often than not, we would have to go head to head for "Top Eliminator". If I couldn't pull a hole shot on him, he'd reel me in almost every time. Damn Fords.
When he told me he was seriously lookin for another car while we were at Woodward, and mentioned he had it narrowed it down to a Mustang or a Crossfire, I had no doubts that he'd go with the Ford. After all, he has a Ranger pidk-up, and an Escape...he's a Ford guy, Hands down, done deal. That's just Gene.
Still, I thought I'd make it hard on him, (what are friends for) so I had him drive my Crossfire down to Toledo from Detroit on our way home from Woodward. When we went our separate ways, I suggested he take a Mustang out for a test drive while the memory of the Crossfire was still fresh in his mind.
I don't know if he did or not, but when he called me today and said he just purchased the Crossfire, it just blew me away. That color reminds me of one of my favorite 67 Vette colors.
Congrats Buddy, I'm really happy for ya.
This Dragon looks to be the best one yet. Good Friends, Good Scenery, good cars, good food, GREAT ROADS....what more could you ask for? Oh yeah....Sunshine.
