E-Mail Addresses
E-Mail Addresses
We have discussed that as a "just in case" scenerio, we should start to keep a list of e-mail addresses. I have offered to keep the file.
If you want your e-mail address kept private, send me a PM. Your information will not be sent out on the public notice, should that become necessary.
Let's use this format. I am borrowing from WM, since he used it, and it seems like a good idea:
Forum Name, User Name, E-Mail Address
Any other information is extraneous at this time.
Here is my info:
jsisabella, Jim S. Isabella, jsisabella@computer-app.com
I will just cut and paste the info into two different files - one public for the users from this thread, and one private for the users I get through PM's.
OK people, fire away!
I really hope we never have to use this.....

I have an email server which gives me the ability to setup a distribution list. With this, if this site were to go down, we could send an email to, say it would be crossfires@netvia.net and everyone on the list would get the email... Would there be interest in setting something like this up?

.....Gee can u guess what I drove when I created this email address back in 99 :?:

Check out the thread Yo Mighty...
We had not heard from the forum administrator in over a month, and were concerned that the site may disappear. He came back to the site today...
I will keep the file of names I have so far. If anyone else want to post their info, I will continue to file it.

Might a Yahoo group be in order? Or, something similar?

Just An Idea: As an emergency measure "ONLY" should this site ever go down because of "server" or other "technical" problems, there is already a Yahoo group for XFire's that can be used as a backup means of getting back in touch "quickly" with each other. It's not very active tho... and it can "never" compete with this forum.

If we think we want a "backup" site, maybe Mighty or someone with computer skills and with his okay, can create a different Yahoo e-mail group to be "associated" and "linked" with this site...
The Jeep Club I belong to (don't laugh) is a "Virtual Jeep Club". We have no dues, official meetings or a board, only a few simple guidelines to keep it family oriented (much like this forum, the only difference is we do get together for trail runs, help each work on their Jeeps and do land clean-ups etc). It's very informal with folks from "every" walk of life (and yes, girls too). It is also on a VBulletin BBS but it started out using Yahoo Groups which we still use today. We also have a website... that's three ways to stay in touch should one or the other go down.
I don't know how having a backup site will go over with our founder, or the rest of you, but please don't think I'm promoting another site. If anybody thinks this post is not in good taste, let me know and I will be more than happy to delete it.
It's just an idea... as I don't want to loose touch with anyone here.
 I think it is a good idea for us to have a back-up. I agree with jsisabella and AZ, I sure don't want to lose touch with the great people of this forum. Having said that - here's my info:

I definitely don't want to leave here or see it go down. It works fine for my needs...though I do wish there was mobile version. But, if it does I think it would be a good idea for a back up plan. I like the people here and there have been some great posts. Thanks to all! Even those who are trolls...hehe. It keeps the boards lively
