Next time, you might want to consider the topsider method as recommended by MB. I use the same setup as MikeR's and it's super easy. Here's his write-up: Oil Change Made Easy

I don't think i really needed to put the washer on but i feel better knowing it is back on there. It would take a lot to get our oil bolt to drip oil. The bolt is long and it didn't start leaking until I completely removed the bolt. It would take a lot for that bolt to fall out on its own.... I don't think it is possible. The only risk of a problem is if you tighten it too much and strip the bolt. That is why i prefer to do the oil change myself on the crossfire from now on. When you have mechanics working on your car they don't care to do it correctly as much as you do.

But I'm sure most of them do not forget to put the washer back on.
I had to say that ..... sorry.

The first oil change I did on my car I didn't replace the washer because it fell off and I didn't realize there was one. I put the plug back in the oil pan and never had a leak. I replaced it next time after reading on here about the crush washers so I doubt you would have had a problem. Pat

this is really a ton of worry over nothing. if you forgot the washer it may seep a bit but not enough to do any damage just may make a mess. if you replaced it with the same washer same results.
at least you didnt drain the oil into my coolant pan LIKE someone else did!!!

If you wouldn't hide the oil pan somebody wouldn't have to use the coolant pan.

I've reused the old washer when I didn't have a new one and mine didn't leak at all. I've since kept new ones on hand extra so that I have them though. For the cost of them I just use new now that I have them.

Just had the dealer do my oil change last week. Good news - only $59.95 for the oil change. Now you have me wondering if the dealer replaced my washer as well. At least from everyones previous experience, using the older one may not present a problem.

For $59.95 I'd be worried if they used Mobile 1 also.

Believe me, I wondered myself. It's a 5 star dealer, with a trained / qualified Crossfire mechanic. I checked the product code for the filter and it checked out. This is the product code for the Oil - 5127394AA *OIL I wasn't sure either and I did some investigating and it appears to be the proper code for synthetic motor oil. Whether it's 0-40 or 5-30 or not, I'm not sure. I saw a thread on the forum that some specs have changed -- and most important thing is that it's synthetic and either 0-40 or 5-30/40. It doesn't have to be Mobil 1 -- and that others are using suitable alternatives as well. Anyway, it sounded too good to be true to me, but it appears they did what they were supposed to do.

A dealership once charged me 60 dollars. I assumed the woman at the counter made a mistake.... I didn't argue!
