Default Drilled & Slotted brake rotors

Hello all, I was wondering if these rotors are any good. I will replace my pads soon (cant stand the stupid dust) and I might as well replace the rotors as well since they are pretty darn cheap.

So what do you think?

Muscle,

A lot of the guys on MB-World are using the R-1 concepts rotors with great success... They must be fairly high quality because the E55 guys and C63 crowd have great praise for them.

Price is a winner too, and you can get the premium ones with the rust-proofing for not much more.

Yes, I have R1 Concept drilled and slotted rotors for front and rear and they are amazing!!!! Look great and especially do a good job here in AZ, especially if I have to ride them hard there really is a big difference.

For Rotors, I wouldent go with anything else than R1. Those ones on ebay seem very cheap for front and rears.........

I am sure R1 are very nice, but there are TONS of options out there (and I perfer brembo to R1 any day).

I would stick with a NAME BRAND, not some ebay crap, but something like R1, brembo, centric, etc.

I wish I had seen these recommendations before replacing my SRT6 rotors with regular rotors three years ago. I like the look of drilled and slotted.

FYI...R1 premium rotors and StopTech rotors are both made by Centric Brake Company.

Put R1's on my 04 and I'm completely satisfied. Good rotors for the price. I just went with ceramic pads rather than the ones they sent... Gotta get new pics up!

Yeah, R1 concepts are awesome.

I just get a loud whisper from the rear, only thing thats anoying when I dont have the radio on.

I don't know if its just that loud because I have a hole in the trunk floor for the Nitrous lines to go out of or if its normal...

What pads would you guys go with? I'm looking to replace the rotors with slotted R1 premiums and a pad that will give me good performance on autocross days but won't ruin the rotors and squeal like a pig on fire.

Ceramics don't stop as well from what I've heard, and honestly, I wouldn't might a little brake dust if it meant no brake fade/ better performance. Maybe the ones you got were different?

While changing out your rotors consider going with the SS brake lines and up grading the brake fluid to Motul RBF 600 or a similar Dot 4 product to complete the job.

If you could possibly tell a difference in performance by adding SS lines you would have to have the most screwed up brake system IN THE WORLD.
BUT if you are driving on a track in a very competitive way SS lines will out perform the standard brake lines by not failing.
I would rather have good quality (stock MB) lines than cheap after market SS lines any day!
As far as disks there are far less manufacturers than there are retail suppliers, you don't always need to spend top dollar to get good quality.
If a company backs their product they may be worth looking into.
Plus being that E-bay is the single largest retail outlet on the planit it is very inaccurate to say it is all cheap junk...
Good Luck on the disks...
Mike

Voyager, for what it is worth I can feel the difference. Can't say if it is the brake lines or the dot 4 or a combination of the two as they were installed at the same time. I also own a SRT roadster witth stock brakes and if you drove one and then the other you would notice a difference as well. In aggressive driving, like at the limits of your skills, as the brakes heat up I am sure anyone will be able to feel the difference. If you follow me thru the Dragon not even a quarter of the way thru the 318 turns I bet you will see the difference as I will out brake your stock system in every turn.....or maybe not. That is what makes it so much fun. Btw it was suggested that I make the change after a stock MB line went bad.

There was another DOT 5.1 that I was gonna put in, but I've forgotten the name. I planned on doing a brake system flush when I replaced the pads and the rotors.

I was actually looking at the akebono euros, but I didn't know if it was a good idea after I saw some of the reviews on tirerack that said the initial bite was dimished. My stock pads are still good, but they just ruin rotors.

I agree here 100% the last time we ran the dragon my brakes where hot and where fading really bad ,there is a real noticable difference with the SS lines i get alot more feedback from the pedal , firmer pedal also, this next trip to the dragon should be a different experence as now everything is in place ,look out Jim here I come ...crazy button off.
