Rudy gave me a ride in his 'six to Saturday dinner at Woodward. He stomped it getting on the the highway and gave me a taste of the power. If my face had stayed like that I would not need a face lift, mind you I would look funny with my ears so far back on my head.
I was sad to hear that his car was creased on the way home, he's OK let's be thankful for that.

Parts for the Vette are plentiful and cheap. Maybe not so with the Crossfire though it is a very reliable car. $12 grand for short block? It's a little scary.
almost 20 year old common american car, or the 1/4 as old euro/american combination that is proven to be reliable?

If you do get the '96 vette, make sure to get a few gold chains and puff your chest hair out of your shirt a little. I think this is SOP....

I had a Black 63 Corvette split window for a couple of years. It was a cool car , but I would rather have my Red Crossfire. Don't see many of either.

I think a C5 vette is my next purchase in the car relm. Right now I'm looking at a Hemi dodge truck and a air stream camper to fix up. Dad had a 84 and 97 vette, I loved both of them, probably buy a c5 because it was our favorite. I almost bought a 99 convertable but I love the looks of the crossfire. If I was going to buy a C4 vette I would buy a 96, but they are so much harder to get in and out, and C5 gets much better millage on the highway, so I'd suggest looking at C5/C6s.

Got a neighbor with a new vette. He doesn't like the cup holder.

Drove 650 miles this past weekend & saw zero Crossfires, but at least 15 Corvettes. Got stuck in Infineon Raceway traffic, so lots of nice cars out.

A nice car that's fun to drive is equally as fun whether there is only one of them, or 5 billion of them. Be noticed for who you are, not what you buy.

Don't do it, you can find a new c4 for under 30,000. Everyone is going to be driving one. Trust me. Don't do it.

Joliet, while I do agree with you in basic principle, for many of us (at least who are car buffs) our vehicles are and extension of who we are -- and that's why we choose the cars we drive. So, I say to the guy hearing the call of the vette, while most of us who are Crossfire owners want you to stay with the pack, do it for the right reasons. If the vette is calling your name, so be it. I personally love vettes but chose the Crossfire. Why? I like it's looks better, it's more fun to drive, it is more unique than most cars (including most vettes) and I think it will be something that I will enjoy regardless of it's age (or mine).

Hi M8

We have just sold our Xfire 2 weeks ago after 3 years of ownership ,so i now drive a SLK55 AMG (5.5L V8 0-60 4.9 roof goes in the boot/trunk , you know the one ) every day , But as you can see i still hang around this forum , There is something about the Xfire that just gets under your skin , by the way you get less noticed in the AMG , I'm hoping we never see our old Xfire driving about any time soon cause it will cut so deep . We did have both for about 10 months & its was so cool .

i say think long & hard , but then again you can always buy another at a later date & at a better price then the first one .

Cheers

Andy ( gone to the dark side but one day i could be back ) .

But for many car guys, it is more about what you buy and how you make it your own. Even if I had a C4 vette (never) it would not look like the rest of them. When I go look at cars to buy, I honestly see them in my mind the way they will look when I get done with them

Get the Vette.

Six months from now we'll help you find another Crossfire.

Even though they made a zillion C4's, like everything else they get harder to find as time goes by. They're reliable so people drive them and every now and then, one crashes or catches on fire and the pool shrinks.
None the less, they're still cheap. A low mileage targa is 6-8 grand and a vert is 10-12. The C5's are selling for under 15k now.
The C3's (68-82) are really increasing in price. If you want one of those, now's the time.

Exactly, thus it doesn't matter how many others there are.

As a long time car buff... well, more an anything with an engine buff... my preference would be to have a collection something similar to what Jay Leno has.

The C-4 is an ergonomic disaster. A ***** to get into and out of and the seats suck as bad as the ones in our car. Besides, it's only 300 hp. I had a 2001 C-5 that I gave to my ex in our divorce. Was a much better car than the C-4. Anyhow, I bought the Crossfire because it's cheap and looks great for the money. I'm not disappointed at all.

I'm going to put it on Craigslist and see what happens. I overpaid for it and the loan has been a sore spot anyway.

My only concern is that I'll never find another one with the alabaster/eggshell color combo. It really sets the car apart from everything else.
