The dealer can't "pad" the bill. He estimated and settled on a payment to deliver. The insurance company gave him $500 extra for "missed items"
He has to deliver. Problem is, he or the mechanic is either stumped or they thought they could get by without fixing these things. What is curious is that, at first, only one cylinder was bad.
It is possible that the mechanic knows what he is doing but the service manager is losing things in translation. I suspect he figures I don't have a clue.So he feeds me BS.
It could just be that the cylinders are Dead because of coil pak failure or damaged injectors. The fuel pump thing is because they got a code. But he wrapped it up like it was part of the problem. "Unlikely" was my answer to him.
Besides, fuel pump failure is still covered under warranty. He wants to make Fiat/Chrysler pop for a new one, it's on him.
So, I may have to "stop by" unannounced again.
I sign for nothing till that puppy runs redline thru some twisties. After it scratches in third.

Is Judi your wife? I thought she had a SRT6....?
Re: Bad Day in Nashville, TN.
Just got off the phone with the insurance adjuster. Seems it was injectors causing the two cylinders to be "dead" not Compression.
Surprised the hell outa me.
Yeah.
Also, the Fuel pump was showing a code. So he said, Allstate will just pay for it too.
Damm.
Seems my car will be ready Friday.
Now, All I have to do is find the time to get down there.
roadser with a stick,,,,, well maybe soon.

I know what you mean about the Ethanol thing. Ever wonder why the corn growers aren't using it in their tractors? You know the answer.

Franc,
First of all I want to say I'm glad your back up and running.
My question now is...do you still have the Euro Tune and could any of what happened be related to the last tune ?
I always hear about these lean/rich mixture concerns after a tune and the engine potentially running to hot which is certain to cause damage internally.
See ya at the upcoming Dragon GTG

Last I heard, Alexander is still saying Franc ended up sucking water through the intake. (this was just 2 weeks ago)
They told another member on this forum that Franc had Mustang injectors and would need to purchase new injectors. I can't wait to talk with Franc at the Dragon.

Yes, I have Mustang injectors. Rudy came thru working withthe dealer mechanics and sourcing them for me.
Official reason for the failure is still water. I will find out more Friday 9/10/2010 when I pick that baby up.
You all are welcome to see my backside thru the Dragon ya hear!
roadster with a stick
FINALLY!

Or are you now running them to prevent another one? Future tuned kids want to know...

Neither can I be sure they were the problem as I had low compression issues as well.
My belief for the moment is that the Hydraulic lock blew two injectors. I simply replaced them all.

In your opinion, do you think your tune had anything to do with your issues?
Not trying to throw anyone or any company under the bus, just want some info from someone who has been there and done that.
Thanks, Franc.

If you build a product for the general public, you build in tolerances for abuse.
Those tolerances equate to over engineering.
Over engineering equates to available performance potentials.
Available performance potentials salivates the tuners and the racers.
Succumbing to such temptations reduces the margin of over engineering
Reduced margins of over engineering means less tolerance of abuse.
But performance enhancements are specifically intended for such abuse.
Things blow up.
Got it.
I am pushing close to 200 HP at the wheel. That means I am pushing my NA Crossie to the limit. I do so everytime I drive it.
What happened to mine may be the result of the tune but mainly because I pushed it. Not all engines blow at the track.
If you pull the safety pin out of a grenade it is still stable. Until you let go.
I let go. Often.
As to the "lean' issue, that was the purpose of the larger injectors. So I doubt that was the problem. But I expanded the red line limits and brought in more air. Lots more.
And apparently a little H20
If you are nervous but want a little more, get a flash tune. Well with in the margins of safety for your engine.

HAD A NICE RECEPTION COMMITTEE AT THE DEALER
Sharko and I then spent the evening with JHM2K
We first went to Logan' Steakhouse. A great steak house and then we went to "Stogies" for beer and cigars. After hours solving most of the world's problems we had a good night's sleep.
Left Nashville area this morning for a fun trip home to Paducah via I-24 in about two hours or so.
Then we cut over 146 to southern MO and ran some twisties up to Washingtom MO and then home.
Car was great. Shop did a good job on it.
I got the inside story on the cause but won't go into it here. I'll tell folks at the Dragon or in person.
