Default BASESP light

Hey, I just bought my xf a week ago ('04 with 60K). The BASESP light goes on and off every couple of days. It hasn't affect the performance at all so far, but i don't want it to. Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix it? I have seen other posts about it but not a solid answer. Any help is appreciated.

How old is the battery? I know that you just bought the car so check the numbers on the battery. They will vary---some will be i.e. J 05 which will be OCT 05. If the battery is over 3 years old, you will be better off to change it. This car is voltage and amperage sensitive,as you will read. I would start there. Also check the tire pressure--sounds funny but the difference in pressure can trigger the light---REALLY. Also go to page 135 in the manual---Synchronizing ESP

With your car running turn steering wheel all the way to the right and all the way to the left.

Hey its my first post after beeing member a couple of years

I had this problem on my 2001, Merc SLK and it was actually a bad rev.counter on
one of the wheels. Maybe you should check the connections for all 4 rev. counters.
My warning light went on and off before finaly staying solid. Went to my dealer and replaced a sensor and it was ok again.

I have the same problem with mine. I do the Steering Angle Sensor reset, but the light comes back on shortly afterwards. The Brake Light Switch can be a common cause,so you should check the sensitivty on your Brake Pedal, although seems to be fine on mine, I think it could be a problem with the Wheel Sensors. When your light is on are you able to turn the Traction Control on and off? Also have you checked the fuses in the box where the RCM is located as I believe some of these relate to the BAS/ESP circuit.
