Default Whoo! Should I buy it???

Cars for Sale: 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 Convertible in Boerne, TX 78006: Convertible Details - 280718268 - AutoTrader.com

After factoring the trade/payoff, taxes lisence and everything, it's $20,500 out the door (with a new top and tires).

I'll be losing my gorgeous Alabaster/Eggshell Roadster 6spd with the TVT 265 but it needs $1k for decent tires .

It will be paid off in 2014 instead of 2013 currently. Payments will increase by $90/mo.

What to do? What to do? My head is swimming. The SRT6 is sweeeeet! Is it THAT sweet? Is it really???

Stop swimming! The SRT vert is rare, you will not get a better chance at one.
If you miss the six speed, they will be cheap as chicken feed later and there are lots and lots of them around.

There are only 1,000 or less SRT verts.

There are always comprimises to be made. This is not a hard one. Really.

Everytime you miss the shifter just press a bity on the SRT's throttle. The pain will go away. I promise!

And this advice you are getting is from the original roadster with a stick.

It's a fun car!

Is it your daily driver? If so, realize its a bit stiffer. Since you own a roadster you know how low it is (getting in/out).

Other than that, the power is a lot of fun. It is not a daily for me.

Absolutely do it ..... you'll never look back ......

When checking out the car (if you haven't yet) ... check to make sure that no mods have been added (just a little peace of mind that it hasn't been overly abused)(there were no under-hood pics).. Check that seat heaters on both seats work .... and that the rear window is solidly in place (southern state) ....Also at 26K miles or so, tires might need to be factored in..... also, if they claim there is a transferable Chrysler warranty on the car, it may not be transferable to a 3rd person (2 previous owners). Buying a new one could run about $1800. Just my $.02

After owning a xFire, I'm sure you know what to look for......

Buy it AND keep your current XF and join the rest of us multiple XF owners!

Of course I'd wait for a nicer color!

I would advise you getting it while they are still around. The SRT 6 is a special car. I had a Limited Roadster that I loved but unfortunately it was wrecked. I bought the SRT Roadster and love that car even more. There's no substitute for more horsepower. I know that it's not the fastest thing out there, but it will run with most cars out there.

It is a stiff ride but it all goes away when you push the pedal down. Then you'll do a modification for more power and you won't go faster ..... because you don't have enough tire stupid. Then you'll put more tire under the rear and do another mod and you won't be faster ..... why won't those stupid tires grip!!! Man, just do it, you have to own a car like this once in your lifetime, and at the current prices now is the right time.

We'll see in the am. $20k+ is a h of a lot of money for an XF...any XF. It's in the Vette C5 range and nearing the C6 range.
The poor dealer is choking on the roof cost. The previous owner didn't tell him the back window was coming apart which was probably why he traded it in in the first place.

The triple black wouldn't be my first choice here in the sun belt except that it will be in the garage most of the time and it is a cool color...provided it's kept clean.

Since you ask, I'll tell you my thoughts. Yes, the SRT-6 roadster has the extra speed thrill factor.

But since you live in Houston, you should seriously consider the move from a cool white Xfire to a heat absorbing black Xfire. If it's going to be a daily driver, sitting out in the sun all day, I wouldn't do it. If it's going to be a garage kept fun weekend car I say go for it!

SRT fever is like a vampire bite.

First you see one and it is exciting, the blood rushes from your brain and the mood is euphoric.

Then you ride in one and the second bite gets your blood to boil and the will to resist fades.

Then, you drive one and your soul is toast.

Just give in BEEP, you're already sitting there with a fork in your butt. Turn over pal, you are done.
Now, get down to the dealer before someone with common sense tries to save you.

BTW, It was a black roadster that felled my resistance. Until then my heart was pure 6spd. I fought it but the beast was just to powerful. I never recovered.

The price for the SRT6 seems good, but it seems that you are only getting a few thousand for your Crossfire trade-in car. Am I missing something here???

Is that the sell price or the balance after your car? Were you upside down on the Alabaster Coupe? Most of us are on the Crossfires if we bought on credit with low down payments.
No big deal as the car's value plummeted in 2008.

Buying cash off the street at a dealer, $20K is excellent, $21K is good for a roadster. Especialy with a new top and tires.

Do the math. What is the dealer giving you for the trade in car?

How many miles on the '05 SRT? On the Alabaster coupe? What year?

I was just at that dealership last week and didn't see the car. I pass by there everyday! I may stop today and buy it Better hurry up before I get there!!!

By the way, that dealership is a rip off. I would be very careful. I tried to buy a car from them and they wouldn't budge on the MSRP and let me walk out the door. Just don't think that place is run properly or very professional.

With $1500 down, the new loan would be $19,000. The Ltd and the old loan wash themselves out.
I'm still waiting to hear back from the sales manager. He's not sure what the new roof will cost and may jack the price of the car up.
