Turbo Crossfire 2.0
Re: Turbo Crossfire 2.0
I haven't had as much time as I thought to work on this project but here are a few new pics. I still have to fabricate the turbo to intercooler pipe, install a tension arm for the alternator, buy a couple more silicone connectors, and finish a small amount of wiring. I can't wait to fire it up and drive it to the exhaust shop.

350whp may be a little high for an Evo8 16g with a stock 6-bolt engine. The 6-bolt has a low 7.5:1 compression pistons and the Evo8's are 8.8:1. But, that means you can run more boost with lower compression..... plus the if its an early 6-bolt it has the larger rods too.

Plus I have a waste gate dump, 3 inch exhaust, and two forms of intercooling(FMIC and Water/meth). Oh yeah, I also have balance shafts eliminated and only running water pump and alternator. It's going to be loud when the waste gate opens. I think the record for the big 16g is over 450AWHP now.

I find myself checking Craig's List for DSM's all the time...
Re: Turbo Crossfire 2.0
I got my coupler today. After my eye exam I'll finish the plumbing. I'll also get some video or at least some more pics up tomorrow or Thursday. I noticed it will be 1 year since I started this thread/project tomorrow. I may be slow but hopefully the car won't be. I just hope the differential and drive shaft hold up.
Re: Turbo Crossfire 2.0
I finally cranked the car today. I have a few small issues to work out but overall everything is good. I ran a manifold vac/boost line to the fuel pressure regulator and combined with a 2nd gen maf the fuel correction at idle is only -3%. Should be easy to tune. I'll probably have a video up early next week.

Re: Turbo Crossfire 2.0
After selling a lot of the OEM parts I have just under $3k in it.
Long Block $450
Built TH350 $400
Trans adapter kit (used) $250
Evo 8 turbo and manifold (used) $300
FMIC and IC piping $250
1G AWD 5 speed ECU $45
SAFC2 $125
B&M ratchet shifter w/cable $125
Head rebuild $125
Torque converter $150
Drive shaft adapter $85
Timing components $200
The rest is gaskets, hose, wiring, gauges and lots of little things that really add up. I found a lot of deals on these things over the past year through ebay and craigs list. You could easily spend 10K or up depending on how fast you want to go with it. I'm probably going to switch to DSMLink or an Evo 8 Ecu next year. I had the LM-1 wideband and the water meth injection in the car all ready so I didn't include that in my cost. The irreversible part of the swap is having to distort the front of the trans tunnel for clearance. Not driving the car for a year was a pretty hefty cost too.
