Fog lamps
Fog lamps
I've had to buy a new bumper for my car & foglights as they were both cracked, now I've been told that the fog lamps dont fit directly on the bumper, they fit onto plastic inserts which is attached to the bumper...
Chrysler dealer is quoting over $300 for the 2 inserts, I don't really want to pay that for 2 pieces of plastic so does anyone know where i can get some second hand inserts, or know if i can somehow mount the fog lights directly onto the bumper safely?

Re: Fog lamps
First of all, the front bumper is pretty usless without the energy absorbing material properly installed inside the bumper. You need 3 pieces as in the photograph below. The yellow circles show where the fog lights mount. Get all 3 pieces just for your own protection if in an accident.
Re: Fog lamps
that's exactly what I need, I have the energy absorber, I just really dont want to pay $300 from dealer... I guess I have no choice unless I buy a set of univeral headlamps, and perhaps use some strong tape to stick them to the inside of the bumper... do you think that could work?
thanks for the detailed picture by the way, much appreciated...

Re: Fog lamps
for example, I've found a decent pair of universal fog lamps, could i screw these directly onto the bumper do you think?

Re: Fog lamps
Personally, I would put it back the way it belongs for several reasons.
Mounting any fog light except what belongs there may not look that good, IMO. Others may work with the fabrication of brackets.
If you check on eBay, there are a few companies selling parts off of wrecked Crossfires. Email them for availability of the parts you need. It has worked for me in the past.
Good luck, James

Re: Fog lamps
The fog light does not bolt to the bumper cover. Look at the picture
Here is an auction with the front bumper sitting on the hatch. Email them for a price.
