Default eBay SUCKS!

Has anybody else tried to do a search for "chrysler crossfire" on ebay lately? There are over 10,000 results! I couldn't believe our car became so popular! As I started searching I noticed that the first 18 pages of results at 50 results a page are nothing but headlight bulbs! then you find a few other parts, then gues what, more bulbs! What the hell?!?!?!? There are repeated postings that have a description that has nothing to do with chrysler crossfire, but below that is says "Fits: Chrysler Crossfire" I started a chat with support, and that was hysterical! you can see the conversation below. The person tels me to refine my search, which means I would have to check every category other than lighting which contains over 8,000 listings. Basically, I you just want to browse for parts, they have made it impossible. You now have to search for EXACTLY what you are looking for. I've been buying and selling on ebay for 9 years, and they have ruined it for me.

Hello and welcome to eBay Motors Live Help! My name is Jan T. How may I help you today?
7:00:01 PM techie1298
Why is it that when I search for "Chrysler Crossfire" more than the first 15 pages are nothing but light bulbs?
7:00:18 PM Jan T.
I'd be glad to help you with this.
7:00:48 PM techie1298
The description says nothing about chrysler crossfire, under that, it says "Fits: Chrysler Crossfire" for EVERY ITEM
7:01:28 PM Jan T.
You have to be in motors.ebay.com
7:01:38 PM Jan T.
For you to be able to search for Chrysler Crossfire
7:01:48 PM Jan T.
You may try
7:02:37 PM techie1298
Clearly I was. I was asking why the first 15 pages are only headlight bulbs?
7:05:43 PM Jan T.
I'm trying to search the word "Chrysler Crossfire" and it gives me a list of vehicle. May I ask what site did you tried to search the "Chrysler Crossfire" ?
7:06:06 PM techie1298
I'm looking for parts, not the whole car
7:06:33 PM techie1298
There are more lightbulbs than anything else and it has made it impossible to search for anything
7:07:08 PM Jan T.
May I ask if you were you looking for a parts and accessories?
7:07:38 PM techie1298
where can I file a complaint?
7:10:18 PM Jan T.
Ok, please type in search bar "Chrysler Crossfire" then under "parts and accessories" then you can see in refine search under "part type" click on "choose more" then a pop-up window will appear
7:11:19 PM Jan T.
And you may check on "brakes" in particular then click on "go"
7:12:49 PM techie1298
I know that, but why are youy allowing people to place the same item dozens of times? The description says nothing about chrysler crossfire, but the fits section says it does. This didnt happen a few months ago
7:16:29 PM Jan T.
Thank you for your patience.
7:16:39 PM Jan T.
In keyword search for as long as the keyword is included in the listing it will automatically included once it is seacrh
7:17:22 PM techie1298
Again, is there some place I can file a complaint?
7:17:48 PM techie1298
That last post of yours was not a sentence.
7:18:04 PM techie1298
This is the wors support I have received anywhere
7:19:34 PM Jan T.
You can file your complaint or suggestion in our suggestion box
7:19:39 PM Jan T.
Here is the link for our Suggestion box, please click on this link, once on the page, click on the link that indicates, 'Send us your suggestion to improve the eBay site.'
eBay: Redirect

So when I followed the link to email a complaint, the "send" button did nothing.

I know I'm just venting here, but what can we do?

The minus sign is your friend.

If there are things you know you do not want add them to your search input and the wont be shown.

Example: Chrysler Crossfire -bulb

Or you and do -bulb* and that eliminates anything starting with bulb (bulbs etc)

I hear you 100%. Try searching for a replacement headlight assembly or any other OEM item for the car and you will be sifting through hundreds and hundreds of listings for bulbs from manufacturers in Hong Kong. If you are lucky you will find 4 of the part you are actually looking for.

Try using terms like "OEM" or "original" --- or get even more creative than I am. I am not saying it will solve your problem, but it might help.

In this case click the "US only" or maybe " North America" under Location and it will remove all the international stuff.

Ebay is terrible on all accounts. It's full of scammers and BS fees. And Paypal tends to side with the people that rip the innocent buyers/sellers off.

I have boycotted Ebay since '06.

I stick to forums and craigslist (also full of idiots and scammers, but if they aren't willing to meet IN PERSON and exchange CASH, then they have no deal, walk away.)

Yes I agree also, but its all over e-bay these people that want to flood the market with their garbage products, you have to sift through all their stuff just to find something your looking for, maybe e-bay should allow us to flag that stupid crap off there like craigs list does. But hay atleast everyone knows where to get bulbs now

I’ve been a big ebay user for over 10 years. This change to include “compatible” items in searches has annoyed me greatly. I consider these type listings as nothing less than spam.

Ebay is just like the rest of them, you have to know what you are buying, ask questions. Actually Craigslist is worse to me. I run a search on ebay occasionally like this:

(crossfire -arctic -tank -boot -goggles)

I found putting in Chrysler restricts some of your results. If someone lists a Mercedes part, knowing it fits a Crossfire, a lot of times they won't include Chrysler in the subject line.

From there you can use the left sidebar to seperate the cars from parts, manuals, apparel, paintball stuff, etc...

James
