i need to move to an area where mercedes will service my crossfire, i have talked to multiple mercedes dealerships in oklahoma city and the dallas area and they said they couldnt service the car because it wasnt mercedes thinking that i wouldnt know that it was built on the pre 2004 slk platform, i argued with them about it and they still said no, i was thinking about falling in the floor and kicking and screaming any suggestions? Why can't you go to Chrysler or a garage and watch the change or last choice do it yourself.

hello steve,
i take my car to smart automotive on king road , by the railway track. i take the oil and filter ....and he does the rest. i take the car to "the bug shop" on kenilworth in hamilton for more serious things. they are qualified to do mercedes, bmw, audie ,and vw. i have taken my vw cars there for years. they do good work.

steve where abouts are you in burlington....and why don't you join us for our local gtg's?
cheers,
gryfan

Thumbs up Re: Dealer oil change questions

I just did my second oil change on my XF (one year intervals due to low driving milage) with my topsider. It took about one hour from getting the key out to putting away everything. Its so simple and inexpensive! The topsider makes it so easy and everything is done from the top of the motor. The last thing I do is install the filter/cap (that large opening is super for pouring the 8 quarts of oil into the motor, I just couldn't refuse using that opening). Good for another year! The oil that came out was relatively clean and the filter (paper) was in great shape. Gotta love the way cheaper price for the girl's oil change!

Same her in the Northeast, USA, Mercedes dealers and even Independent Euro stations will not work on the Chrysler, only MB. I recently went to the Chrysler dealer for an oil change and he used Pennzoil oil.

thanks

Thanks for those repair shop recommendations Nick,

Do you recall how much they charge you when you supply your oil and fileter at Smart Auto, I'm kind of torn between getting a topsider or just paying someone else to do the few oil changes I will need?

I live over around Appleby & Upper Middle area (just off Corperate Drive). What Local gtg's are you referring to? We're new to owning the Crossfire this year so I'm not really up on what the crowd does in this area.

Thanks,

Steve

hello again steve,

steve smart, at smart automotive usually charges $20.00 if you supply the oil and filter. every once in a while he will do one for free.it is very convenient for me because i am just around the corner from him in aldershot.
we do several gtg's during the summer as a group. we go to the fleetwood cruze-in in london in june....we just got back from the woodward dream cruise.....we have had some pool party / bbq's this summer. there is a gtg heading up to port elgin on sept. 10th. several of us are heading down to north carolina in about a month to drive the smokie mountains.
i'll give you my e-mail.....then we can discuss some of the local things we do. we are referred to as S.O.C.O. Southern Ontario Crossfire Owners

Thanks Nick,

For $20 it's totally worth having soemone else change the oil & filter, I'll go to Smart Auto and let them know you recommended me.

I can't do the Sept. 10th as I have a baseball tournament that week-end but I'll send you a PM & you can let me know when there are other events. I already let the SOCO know who I was so I think they have added me to the registry too.

Thanks Again.

Steve
