This is the INTERNET - that settles nothing.

I'm gonna start another thread about Mobile 1 0W40 being phased out.

How often should an oil change be done if the mobil 0w 40 oil is used. Dealer forgot to put a tag in my car for next change.

5,000-7,000 miles depending on your driving conditions.

You dont need a sticker if they reset the FSS indicator.... it will tell you when it is time to change...if they didnt reset, you can. The instructions are in the owners manual and on here several places.. just search for FSS reset.....

I really have to laugh at this thread. A few of you have told us about your cars and all the mods and such...and on and on....and you don't and can't change your own oil. If you are going to own a nice sports car, then please learn this simple half hour job. Your car's life depends on it. As for Mobil one, there are some good acceptable replacements for it, but I can still buy 0W-30 just about anywhere. Lucas has a good synthetic, and their are others...but a true gearhead, changes his or hers own oil....I wouldn't trust any of those places with my cars...I lost an engine in one of my van's years ago when my wife thought she was doing me a favor and had a jiffy lube service the van....they use a bulk fill system, and it must have shut off early and the tech didn't notice...cost me an engine and they refused to pay...so if you must use this service, before you leave, have them, or you, check the dip stick...and look for leaks before you drive away...and I would think you couldn't go wrong with an MB dealership...

Just thought its first oil change, since I bought her, should be done by the dealer as the last Infinity dealer, I got the car from, used 5w30 and didn't reset the FFS indicator. Your probably right about doing it yourself but at some point in life, age 60 in my case, I got lazy and rather someone else do it. After doing my oil changes for 42 years I think its time to move on. Because the dealer was replacing valve covers and gaskets I thought I would through them some cash.

Forgot you have to watch what you say on this forum, someone will be rude and comment. " If its not nice just don't say it " or find someone that cares! I don't think I've been rude on this forum in almost a year Ive been here. Whats the deal! " PLEASE LEARN THIS SIMPLE HALF HOUR JOB " Boy you sound like my dead dad and that SUCKED!
Let me check my dip stick!
that certainly wasn't for you, you have been done that....and if I can't get under that car at 60, I will get someone else to do it while I watch....and I didn't see anything rude about it...it's a fact...and you know that...unless you are watching them do it...and I spent $3500 bucks as a result of it...and our dead Dad's were usually right...

Your COOL! ONLY PLAYIN' I'm tooo fat and old to get under that car. I should have bought a HUMMER I can get under that but I can't get up! Maybe I should get my age off that profile. Although when I'm 80 driving this car I'll be very cool.

Ok, since Mike is now reminding me of my age, just be sure if you aren't going to do this yourself, because of age, or other disabled reasons, including being lazy, that you at least go to a reputable establishment, and make sure you are at least pulling out the dip stick and looking at it from time to time....and I don't mean the one in your pants....

This looks like an oldies but goodies thread. Why don't we just put our ages in as 19.
I did check the dip stick and I am proud to say they did fill it with oil for only 120 dollars with filter. The manual says I should be good for 7000 miles. Which with the use I give it should be 5 years. I think I'll change it every other year anyway. The FSS was reset so it should give me a warning of some kind if I forget to change oil. Ron

Oledoc2u, I had a similar problem with Jiffy Lube. Back in 1995 they failed to fill my engine with oil. The car was only 2 years old, and always had the oil changed at 3,000 miles. When I drove the car home the engine was making a tapping noise. It took 4 quarts to bring it up to the correct dipstick fill level. I had been using an oil supplement which I think saved the engine.

On another occasion I was having my transmission fluid and filter replaced on the family minivan at a Penske place. I came back to the shop since they had it all day. I was just in time to see and stop the mechanic from pouring in the wrong type transmission fluid. Chrysler automatic transmissions are known to fail from using the wrong fluid.

I’ve given up convenience to doing maintenance and repair work myself to make sure it’s done right.

It's a pain sometimes to do it yourself, but I know it gets done right, and I wouldn't want to lose one of these motors. And as I stated, if you can't do it yourself, at least standby and watch to see it is done right. We use a bulk oil system where I get the big rig serviced, and they always re-check. It has a tendency to shut off for no reason. Leaving you short on oil. Same system the jiffy lube and others use. I re-check it again before I leave. I have 430K on the big truck now, and it uses no oil between changes so far. I change the oil on it every 10K miles. And, Ron, I don't change the oil on my truck, but I do stand by and watch...lol

That is the way to do it but they wanted the car for Thursday and Friday to do the valve covers and than oil change. I guess the gaskets have to set up for the valve cover as they were leaking. I have a friend that will do the next oil change but he is a little rough so I'll be watching!
