2010 Camaro
Re: 2010 Camaro
There is no doubt that around the MD/VA/DC corridor, the ratio of Camaros to Crossfires is 100:1. They just dont do it for me, regardless of color, option packages, etc. To me, just like when the PT Cruiser came out in the early 2000's, the Camaro will the the hot commodity for a while...until eventually it becomes one of the mainstays of the the Hertz, Enterprise, Budget and Alamo Rental fleets. I anxiously await the hate mail to flow in from the PT owners on here.....

s40 - agree with you on the PT analogy. I had 2 of them but there were two factors that turned me elsewhere. 1 was the day I bought my GT Cruiser. It was the first time I saw, sat in, fell in love with a Crossfire and you all know what that does to you, second was as you state, PT's were everywhere. When I saw one that had a chrome shade over the front window, chrome wheel trims, stick on flames and those brass ********* hanging under the back of my car I knew it was time to go for something else. I guess that could have been any car but how could someone do that to a PT? Early on in the PT fad it was an experience, waiting for your car to be built (mine took almost 4 months for the first one), heck I even had to make an appointment to test drive one so many people were interested in them. Early owners would wave at each other, it was a lot of fun, great Forum, lots of get togethers and then it became "just a car" to many people. I'm glad I was able to segue into the Crossfire. You are right about this area, there is a ton of Camaro's while the Crossfire is still pretty rare. Like a teenager I am having fun doing mods to my car which I swore I'd never ever do. Never say never!

Re: 2010 Camaro
My dad was an exec at Chrysler when I was a kid, so Mopars are sort of in my blood. That said, one of the Camaros main competitors, the Challenger, just doesn't do it for me. It looks great, and the interior isn't too bad, but it's just so darn heavy and the handling is so-so at best. The Camaro looks fantastic, which I sort of hate to admit because I really don't like Chevrolets much at all. But the interior is just plain goofy looking and the plastics on the doors and dash are a joke.
I had the opportunity to drive an SS that a business associate of my wife owns and it left me sort of flat. The big boss man here at work has an SS 6 speed with some Hennessey bits on it, all black, and it look freakin' incredible and sounds awesome to go with it. But it's still damn heavy and I just can't get past the interior.
The other major competitor to these two, the Mustang, is widely accepted to be the better car overall, and by a pretty good margin. Far better driving dynamics, it's lighter, and the new 5.0L V8 has the measure of both the SS and SRT versions of the competition. Personally I like the look of the Mustang and the interiors are a huge step up from even just a couple of years ago. But you see them everywhere, all the time.
In V6 guise that all three can be had in, the Mustang once again tops both the Camaro and Challenger - the Dodge is just way too much car for the 250HP V6 offered in it. But if you're going the V6 route, get the Hyundai Genesis Coupe - it outperforms them all, feels better from behind the wheel, and looks great.
But I wouldn't trade my Crossfire Limited Roadster for any of them. Not a chance.

Exclusivity and drivetrain refinement, not speed or ultimate *****-to-the-wall horsepower, is what drove me to buy the Crossfire.
Re: 2010 Camaro
yeah, I would probably pass on the Camaro. They look nice and the SBC is certainly a nice motor. However, I'm far more interested in the 2011 Mustang GT with the coyote V8. It just seems like a much nicer package than the Camaro and just as fast. Yes, if I was in a financial position to, I'd sell my crossfire for one.
The MSRP of my XF was $37,xxx. The MSRP of the 2011 Mustang GT, exactly as I would want it (shaker 500, LSD, HIDs, sports seats, and Brembo brakes) was $37,100. The Mustang just seems like so much more car for the money. But I think everyone can agree that the XF is probably the most unique modern car you can buy.

Re: 2010 Camaro
I agree with all of you, the Mustang beats both of them. I did see an interesting new Camaro about a month ago. It was a Callaway Model. Had a supercharger on it. Real nice sounding and looking car. My main problem with both the Camaro and the Challenger are the size. If they were a tad smaller............

Re: 2010 Camaro
I was a fan of the body styling of the Camaros and Mustangs of the 60's. Everything after that has pailed in comparison. The Mustangs are still ugly to me. The new Camaro looks great, but I see at least three a day now. I would rather stay with my '04 Coupe. I have yet to see another Alabaster one in Fort Worth. I have only seen one red and one black roadster in the last month. To me, the rarity wins hands down.
