As a former Camaro owner (it's been a long time), I honestly liked the looks of '80s version myself. The new Camaros just don't "do it" for me. After owning a Crossfire for two years, there is no way that I would personally go out and buy a new Camaro.

regardless he is asking about the camaro, not the insignificant mustang.
Better is my opinion yes. The new v6 mustang is alot quicker than the v6 camaro, just look at any auto mag and you will see. Both v8's run basically identical times. The camaro engine may have more potential but stock for stock and I think the mustang is the better choice. While he did ask about the camaro he also wanted to know our "thoughts" as well, that is what I provided. They are both good cars. It just if one equates high power, lightness, and good gas mileage as being a good car then the mustang is better. The biggest deciding factor in this case is what your suspension preference is.

I gave my opinion, but have any of you seen Jay Leno's latest Camaro? Chevy built him a one-off prototype Camaro....you should check it out....and it isn't a V-8...see it for yourself....and, for the money and HP, I'll stay with SRT6....good luck in your decision....

I had a 2000 Camaro and wish I never sold it. Very nice curves and very appealing to the eye! Had a lot more power then the Mustang of the time. Not sure why the Mustang ever sold more. But anyway, my point is Camaro's were starting to become futuristic like the Corvettes. They were starting to develop into an exotic looking car in my opinion. Ahead of its time with the exterior design. If I could buy another I would simply because the new retro Camaro look is not a "timeless" look in my opinion. Looks great right now but will wear off real soon. They should have made the Camaro look real low and sleek. But the designers today simply can't make a good looking sports car anymore.

If I had a choice I would go with the Mustang or Challenger, not a Camaro, out of the three I think that that retro looks are far better in the Mustang and Challenger. Both Ford and Dodge did great jobs keeping the original looks of the car where the Camaro has it in the front end and the sides but lost it on the rear. I would keep the Crossfire.

If you bought your Crossfire new I would keep it. In twenty-five years Crossfires will be worth more then Camaros. If you're not going to keep it that long, get a Camaro, if you get tired of it later you can always sell it and get another Crossfire.

ultimately it is your money, buy what you like not what others on a internet forum that do not know you likes.

i would just go test drive a few cars and think about what your looking for and go with that.

i am currently debating on a new evo x or a bmw m3. the evo is more versitile year round but is a little noisey inside and the bmw is more luxurious inside but is rwd which means no where near as good in the snow. it is tough moving on to another car, it usually takes me about 1 or so years to decide lol. but i end up with the car i want and do not have to worry about making the wrong choice.

In 4-5 years the glue dries and the panels / headliner sag and go gooyie, GM you know. They are worth their stock except that is gone too. Woody

My brother has an SS. Actualy it is his wifes car.

He has boosted power to 550 HP.

Still drives like a truck

Still a common Chevy

Get one if you don't really like you Crossfire.

Or you really do like Detroit Iron.

Even though it's made in Mexico.

Don't let the old farts mess with you. The new Camaros are cool lookin' and fun to drive. And this old fart got as many looks in it as in his Crossie running thru Plano Texas.

Wouldn't want one myself but, it is a matter of taste and what you want.

Have you seen the show on the manufacturing of the new Camaro? Saw it on HD Net a few weeks back right after the Lambo factory show. They take you all the way through the body panels being punched out to the final product. I was pretty impressed. Photoman is right though, buy what you want not what other people like or don't like.

It does, I could be mistaken.
However, I believe Jeff claims his was built in Mexico. They waited 7 months for it.
I'll ask next time I see him.
Not that it matters

Built in Oshawa Ontario might have waited on some parts from Mexico.

The plant where the entire car is built with the exception of the engine is in Canada not Mexico.

There's 3 dealbreakers for me on the Camaro:

1. Building a "performance" car and putting the important gauges on the console is just plain stupid.

2. I absolutely HATE the way the main gauge cluster seems to jump off the dashboard at you.

3. No matter what color Camaro you get......they all have that stupid piece of plastic on the bottom of the back bumper..... just reminds me of a 80's Pontiac.
