From what i have read, if he has the 276 hp v6 it would be very close, but i believe the srt6 would take it in the 1/4 mile the stock GN at 13.5 1/4 mile and most stock srt6 can do a little better than that. Danny

87 Buick GNX maybe the quickest Buick of all time. Stock 0-60 is listed as 4.7 sec. and the 1/4 mile at 13.5. Stock to stock looks like a drivers race.

I don't think I've ever seen a "STOCK" Buick GNX.....did they make any?

Tell him you'll race him for a 1/4 of a mile of the Dragon.

Yes that's true......I use to work at a Buick dealer.
What I was implying, (even though they were "Hemi" fast from the factory) very few were left stock, such as your co-workers.
Fortunately most drag strips don't have curves, but the FBI still purchased a few dozen of them.

If he owns a GNX (which is different than a GN), he will shut your mouth.

More like sew it shut...

...if he is running in the 9s he will more than likely rip your tongue out and then sew your mouth shut...not a good idea.

I have beaten a modded Turbo T, but he has now upped the boost and not sure about the outcome now. There are some beasty Buicks out there, and I think the GN, GNX Turbo T were all underated hp # on sales slip.

They most definitely were. It made the insurance companies get that "warm fuzzy" feeling.

Having owned an 87 GN, I can say that if it is truly stock, it should be a good race.

But, I doubt many people would be able to just look at one and know if it is stock or not.

If it is modified, than it could be anywhere from a 13.50 car to a 10.50 car. I doubt serioulsy that he runs 9's in the quarter. That takes some doing.

His weakness is that he has to build boost before launching to run fast. If you can somehow have the starter stage you first, then start the race as soon as he stages, then you will have an advantage until his boost spools up.

They usually (but not always) make more torque than hp. So if he builds boost, and has sticky tires so that he can leave hard, just hope you have a strong enough top end charge to catch him or it's gonna be over.
