Exclamation Worried About Lack Of Future Parts - May Sell My '04

Don't get me wrong...I love my 04 white Crossfire coupe. My brother sells used cars and he told me yesterday that his friend that has a Crossfire is in dire need of a front bumper since he wrecked it. The dealership told him he would have to wait a year to get a repacement!! He wished he would have sold it if he had known there would be this heartache over getting body parts.

Now, I'm worried. The fear of the unknown parts issue really has me looking around for something worthy to trade to. I hate this because it's the first car that I really love. I can't afford to put it up and get another car to drive everyday. I will need to sell and get something different.

What are you going to do if you wreck your car and can't get parts?? This is freaky!

you just have to go the used car parts route. as long as you dont have a srt-6 the cosmetic parts should be able to be found. may take a while but there are parts cars out there

I can fully relate. Dealer is still waiting for a week now to get a gasket for my car to come in.

I had to wait two weeks for the parking brake cable for my 300, so **** happens all the time. Sometimes its the dealers fault, I did not panic, I just waited. I did not consider selling the 300, they should be good for spares for a while.
A Crossfire engine or transmission gasket would be no problem, they just get it from a Merc dealer. No problem.

Keep your Crossfire, tear it all down to pieces and put them on a shelf as a long term investment. Run some free online adds and sell it off piece by piece and quadruple your money.

I wouldnt let the idea of scarce parts cloud your mind. Used parts is the way to go. However, while I have always been a safe driver, I do find myself being EXTRA cautious negotiating parking lots and backing out etc. Finding parts is just not a headache I want any part of.

I notice I have been extra careful the past few days since I have been aware of this. I haven't been in a fender bender since 1974! Now I worry???

Just get a spare one as a backup - in case #1 is in the shop!

Well if I get into an accident then the body shop will have that duty of getting my parts. While that is happening I will be enjoying my rental car.

Silver, while this would usually be an alright idea, your insurance company is only going to pay for a rental for a set amount of time per your policy limits, usually 30 days. If you had to wait 6 months for a part it would suck pretty bad to either have to arrange other transportation or pay out of pocket for a rental

Now that would be funny if the insurance company had to do that. Could you imaging your Crossfire being totaled by the insurance company for a bent hood just because it would cost too much to pay for a rental car for the 6+ months it would take to get a new one.
