Default key fob replacement ideas

I was wondering if there is a way to disable the electronics (like VATS in GM cars) so we can start our cars
with the correctly cut keys but not go through the expense of buying replacement signal transmitting fobs.

I did this on my wife's Caddy Eldorado by soldering the correct ohm resistors into the Vats reading circuit.
This was very easy, took an hour and cost me about $1.

I know this will limit some of the antitheft protection but, after driving over 40 years, I have yet to have a car stolen.

If you manage it let me know where you park it.
If you did this and the insurance company found out I doubt your coverage would be in effect. They insured a car with anti theft devices.

I am not an expert, but with my limited experience with German electronics I would guess it would take more than a few ohm resistors to make it work. And who knows, your right side brake light might stop working because of it. In other words, they always seem to make things more complicated than they should be. Plus, I like having the flip key.

The theft deterrent system in the Crossfire uses an RFID chip, unlike the resister in the GM VATS system. There is a small RFID chip in your key fob which must be very close to a circular antena in the ignition switch in order to allow the car to run. I have not tried this - and would not try to disable the anti-theft system on my own car - but, if you fix the RFID chip from one of your key fobs very near the ignition it would likely allow a plain laser cut key to start and run the car. Two words of caution: 1) The Crossfire is a very nice car and would be easier to steal if you do this. 2) If you use a key in a key fob that has not had the RFID removed, the two RFIDs might interfer with each other so that the second key would not work until its RFID chip is removed also.

When I purchased mine, the lady said she'd mail me the extra key but never has (almost been a month). Somehow her number got lost from my cell as well, so no real way to get in touch with her.

Would my best bet be to simply provide my info to the dealer and have them order me a spare? I can program it, thanks to some reading on here.
