BAS/ESP and ABS lights on & a spoiler on Viagra
BAS/ESP and ABS lights on & a spoiler on Viagra
I have done the searching and have found only one person who has experienced the same symptoms as me and this person said everything just worked itself out, no fix necessary. I do not want to take any chances and also do not want to take her to the stealership.
Here is the deal, I was driving in the snow yesterday and had some wheel spin and the BAS/ESP light, along with the ABS light lit up. Also, the spoiler raised and could not be lowered and the light on the spoiler switch was blinking. I have heard steering angle sensor and ABS module are slightly more common with these types of warning lights, but want to try and make sure. The car is a 2005 6 speed base model coupe and currently has stock wheels on it. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks guys.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while?

I was hoping to get a multitude of ideas and have to only go to the garage once or twice LOL
Thanks for the suggestion DJ, I know it is hard for you to try and get another black XF back on the road

I don't think this one has anything to do with the battery. Mine did the same two winters ago, same situation. I reset it with the wheel turn method and it didn't reset right away. It took several hours. My battery was/is fine. My issue BoilerUp was the same. Pulled out of the parking lot at lunch. Car caught some ice and rear spun a bit. BAS/ESP light/ABS light came on and the spoiler went up. Felt stupid sitting in the bank drivethrough with the spoiler up! Spoiler would not go down even manually unless I shut the car off and then restarted it and put it down manually. Came back to the office and called the dealership set up appointment, went out after work and everything was fine? I wish I had an explanation for you, cancelled my trip to the dealership. I know a low battery can cause the ESP/BAS light to come on but I don't think that's the case here. I have an 05 LTD.

The first thing I did was the full steering wheel calibration with no affect, I guess I am going to wait a few more days and see what happens.
Thanks!

I'd try to park the car in a garage if possible. The thought is that you might have some snow packed into a sensor and that's throwing things off. A night or two in an environment with a higher temp than 32 degrees might let everything thaw out and return to normal.
Re: BAS/ESP and ABS lights on & a spoiler on Viagra
john, in this weather, just a voltage spike, salt, ground not making good contact, may have wigged out the puter...put her in the garage, let it dry out....then do a reset with battery cable off...mine are on, on the semi right now...I have to take it to a shop to get the puter reset....but my abs is working fine....least little bit of moisture is a problem with the sensors on the semi, so I am sure they are with our cars...of course mine is always in the garage...well, one in my garage, and one at the farm in a garage...lol
Re: BAS/ESP and ABS lights on & a spoiler on Viagra
Steve and Doc, thanks guys, she stays in the garage every night.
Last night I let her sit and thaw, same thing this morning. I will follow the advice and let her sit while I am in warmer climates and see how she is when I get back. I just hate not knowing what is going on.....
I hope it is nothing major, I think I may have to replace the furnace in the house I just bought the timing of all this could not be worse, I leave for Florida for 8 days tomorrow. ****.

I think doc might have something. Like I said mine didn't reset right away. Doc is also right about your house. Every year I get at least one client whose heat went south while they were away and the house is either full of water or worse ...... ice. House down the street from me had this very issue this week. Have a safe trip.

The only saving grace, when I got back, the car was fine, no more lights and spoiler works fine, must be an intermittent thing that only happens in the cold.

I get back from a record cold vacation in Florida to a house that has had the door kicked in and been robbed. This is all after only owning my home less than 30 days. You could say it has been about the worst 10 days I have experienced in my 26 years on this earth....
