Good News and Michelin Tire Info...
Hey Gang,
After all the downbeat posts concening the 1st gear and tire problems with #2815, there is hope very close at hand!!!
The transmission was ordered Tuesday and is going in as I write this!!! The tire was also ordered on Tuesday and is now in California. It will be here Monday or Tuesday. The dealer is willing to put a temporary plug in the tire as long as I refrain from any high speed cornering and driving. Of course I'm going to keep it for a backup spare. (Boy, I sure would of hated being stuck in Backwater USA waiting for a tire, this was bad enough).
I was in contact with a supervisor at Michelin N. America in Greenville, SC this morning (if you need a name and phone number, e-mail off line). A few things I was able to find out:
¥ The Pilot Sport 2 is not officially being introduced to the public untill Mar 2004. Hence the lack of availability. There are many within Michelin that are very unhappy that this tire was put on the car without it being unveiled to the public.
¥ Keep in mind that this tire is a specialty tire and 95% of tire dealers will never have it in stock. Most likely there will always be a day or two wait to get the tire from a wharehouse near you.
¥ Michelin is "very" proud of this tire. To that end... if you have a "low" milage tire that has suffered road hazard damage, Michelin will give a substantial "goodwill" discount on a new tire. Either call them direct or have whoever orders your tire ask. In my case, I pay the dealer full price, FAX my bill of sale and Michelin is going to rebate me a large portion of the cost of the tire.
So............ it looks like #2815 will be on the road this evening, tomorow at the latest!!! Then I can just bore everyone with my posts on how I'm enjoying the car!!!
PS: For some of you who have been in touch with DC for problems on your car, who were you in contact with??? How about posting some names and phone numbers??? I could not get by a customer service rep. They refused to put me or my wife through to any kind of supervisor or manager. To do that they said use the web site or write a letter. That's CRAP!!!

Glad to see you smiling again  All's well that ends well.....
As far as your Customer Service Rep Problem:
We had the same problem trying to get past a customer service rep. When using the web site to email, all we received was a CANNED "I'm sorry - can't help you - keep in touch with your dealer" reply. Very frustrating. For all of us who love 8) our Crossfire but have had any kind of "major" problem, I think we would all agree their Customer Service at the Corporate level absolutely sucks. Luckily, most of us seem to have dealers who will, at least, listen and, eventually get our problems corrected. If anyone ever does get a supervisor or manager's number, hopefully they will post it and it can be a "sticky" so we will all have it forever!!

I'm glad someone feels the same about posting "real" info when asked to do so.
One thing that my service manager told me and I knew already is... do not believe "everything" you read on internet forums, no matter how good it may seem. This is a really great forum, one of the best I've seen, and there has been some very helpfull information posted, but there seems to be some smoke blown you know where at times.
As we both said... when calling the Chyrsler Customer Care line 800#... you "CAN NOT" get past a customer service rep. For those of you who said they've been "UP" the DC food chain... you need to post some names and phone numbers or PM the info to those that need the help... otherwise take the BS elsewhere.
PS: As I said in another post, if anyone wants a name and number at Michelin... PM me and I'll pass along that info.
BTW: It's Friday and time to hit the streets and turn some heads... Happy Cruisin'!!! 8) 8) 8)
