Default Production questions.

I've been trying to piece together the Crossfire production history, and think have reached some conclusions (from posts here, news releases, etc.). Here are my conclusions and I'm sure some, if not all, are wrong. Please post any corrections or errors anyone knows about.

1. Regular production commenced in September 2003 of 2004 models.
2. A total of 76,047 Crossfires were made, with something less that 76,000 produced for sale and the balance being prototypes or crash cars.
3. The last Crossfire was made on December 17, 2007 as a 2008.
4. There was no production for the U.S. from July, 2006 through September, 2007.
5. All "2007" Crossfires sold in the U.S. are carry-over rebadged 2006's.
6. From Sept.-Dec., 2007, 2000 2008 Crossfires were built for the U.S. market.
7. There were some Crossfires produced in 2007 as 2007 Crossfires for non-U.S. markets.

And here are some specific questions for anyone who has an answer.

1. What is the rarest color? My guess Machine Grey or White.
2. What is the most common color? My guess red or light blue metallic.
3. I note that roadster and automatic production dominated the last thousands built. Does anyone have a vin later than 75749 for a 6 sp. coupe?

Thanks for any help with this.

I would have guessed black - since base Crossfires were only available black (at least for most of the production time, AFAIK).

I have to dispute #1. I saw my first Crossfire on June 28th, 2003 at exactly 11:00 am at Marlow Heights Chrysler/Jeep, it was a Saturday morning and my birthday. I was picking up my 03 GT Cruiser and they had just gotten it (the Crossfire) in the night before. It was a SSB Coupe and had a sign in the window $37,000 F I R M. I also fell in love with the car that same moment. So the statement 04's went into production in September of 03 doesn't jive with what I saw. My wife will back me up on this because when I showed her my new GT I also told her what my next car was going to be ( I bought a new car every two years or so.) and I drove her crazy wanting a Crossfire for the next two years! By the way the Crossfire is a keeper. No more "new in two".
That said Machine gray is a rare color, I've seen only one. I have to think the Bright Silver is another rare one but the rarest? I let one of the other experts here jump in on that one.

This is the rarest color and was only available on a very select few 2007 limited roadsters.

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THE YELLOW ROADSTER IS THE RAREST COLOR BECAUSE IT ONLY CAME IN A ROADSTER.

That was my thought also....Yellow probably the rarest.

Here's my 07 Machine Grey & my wife's 08 Bright Silver (#76,028)...

I have a hard time thinking of my 07 as a rebadged 06....since it was manufactured in March of '07 ??????

I thought Bright Silver was available in a coupe because I swear I saw one a few months ago, very pretty. Sometimes the SSB looks like silver. The Machine Grey is my favorite color, the flake just pops on that color.

A good yard stick to use when determining rare colors? Just take a look at what showed up at the various Tail of the Dragon GTG's.

If I base this on what I see, I would say yellow, gold and bright silver are the rarest with bright silver being the most rare. I have only seen on of those.

Number 5 would be incorrect.
I had both an 06 and 07 during that year. I acquired the 07 in Nov. 07. There were several differences in the car, one quite relevent to the totaling of the 06.

I think that there has been a lot of misinfo about the car because its circumstances breeds a lot of "experts".

Anyway, having had the two in 07, I can tell you that they were not rebadged 06's anymore than they were all rebadged.

Thanks for the correction. I was going off what I was recently told at the Dragon.

you are correct Pat, i saw one in KY a month ago, Elizabethtown KY, or maybe Bardsville, small town anyway, sitting by a restored tavern, and it was indeed a silver coupe, because I had never seen a silver Cross at all before.

Based on my non official database of XFs, the color breakdown is as follows:
Black 26.9%
Silver Saphire Blue 19.9%

Red (Inferno-Blaze) 6.7%
Alabaster (White) 4.2%
Bright Silver 1.6%

Classic Yellow 1.3%
Oyster (Gold) 1.3%
Total = 100% including 2.3% unknown color. Sample size ~2400

Just for the record what were the differences?

Wow, I was way off on the red. I had heard from three trusted sources (2 dealers) that the '07's were rebadged '06's. Glad you corrected that. I'm an automotive attorney, understood that that practice was stopped by the Feds following Kaiser/Fraser carrying cars up to two years forward, and found the info questionable.
Incidentally, I had a wierd occurrance yesterday. Pulled into Hugh's Tower (one of very few high-rise office buildings in Vegas), and while looking for a parking space the first one I found empty was between two Crossfires (Red coupe and Black coupe). Put my Machine Grey coupe between them. Odd sight as generally I only see another Crossfire on the roads here about three times a week.
